If you want a more "modern" sound, listen to Hip Hop is Dead first. Fucking awesome album.

If you want more classic, "mafioso" stuff, go with It Was Written first, as it is easier to digest and follow than Illmatic. Save the best for last (God's Son)

Agree, HHID was the album that got me into Nas

The fuck is up with everyone suggesting any other Nas album over Illmatic? Anyways the ones you should definitely listen to first are Illmatic, HHID, Untitled, Stillmatic, IWW, than whatever else you feel like trying out as none of his albums are really that noteworthy.

I guess illmatic, might be saved for last, as only after you become familiar with Nas' work will you truly appreciate it, but idk it clicked with me right away.

Lol only reason I said that cause this is one of the people who defend Eminem to the death say hes the best. Theres no problem with that but if u haven't listened to anyone else its pretty funny.

Freespeech is right though
