Nas is in no way more known than Tupac. Or even close.

lol, if I were to ask 200 people that I know if they have heard of Nas..3 would probably say yes. If Nas were to die, it would only shake the Hip-Hop community.

It's unfair but it's true, Nas is well known only by hip hop fans.

No he isn't, he hasn't transcended the genre like Em, Pac, or Jay even but his fanbase isn't restricted to Hip Hop heads only. That'd be more like Mobb Deep, or individual members of the Wu (though Wu as a whole, you could make a case for).

How about Ice Cube?

Part of NWA, had a run of great, well known albums in the 90s, film star - definitely a huge name

RZA anyone? Mastermind behind the Wu, made the scores of movies like Afro Samurai, Kill Bill and Blade Trinity, now directing a $30 million dollar movie in China with Russel Crowe as supporting actor, and appartently imput by Tarintino
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

1. Tupac
2. Eminem
3. Biggie
4. Lil Wayne
5. Jay Z

They will remain the biggest 5 until Wayne falls off the map completely in the next 5 years. Then Jay will retire..

15-20 years from now though, Pac, Biggie and Em will all still be on this list.. The other two, probably not.

Well it depends

The general public might say the rappers they are exposed to in commericals and mtv like 50 Cent and Wayne

People who listen to hip hop would of course name like Pac and Big

How can the highest selling artist of last decade, and highest selling rapper of all-time, NOT be #1 on this list?

Eminem is bigger than Hip Hop.

How many times do you hear "I'm not a fan of hip hop, but I love Eminem"

Jay-Z only really became "super popular" in the last few years. He didn't even have a #1 song until 2009

& Lil Wayne has only had 1 major successful album

I have read some terrible stupid posts on this forum, but reading through VenomBlackViper's comments in this thread is by far the most stupid. It's amazing how much people are willing to make themselves look like complete and utter retards because they don't like a rapper, throwing all logic out of the window. I mean for someone to tell you that a rapper has been going plat since 99 (Lil Wayne) and still one of the biggest rappers today with millions of followers, at least 500,000 DIE HARD fans from all backgrounds that actually believe he is the best rapper and still continue to argue that Wayne isn't a big deal, 'just hot today' or won't be remembered just because YOU don't like him is quite staggering. Can i ask what you do for a living?

That on it's own doesn't even matter but the quality of his music is just not worthy of making him big. After his radio time is up Weezys career is going to wither away & die. Ultimately no amount of mainstream help can make you a "big" if the quality of your music is shit.

Sometimes i really regret entering a thread, you obviously know nothing about Hip Hop. This Post says so much. I've never followed Waynes music closely but let me just take each of your sentences here

'Even if he did go platinum in 2000' - fucking moron
'Nobody knew who the fuck he was until 05 - 08' - Have you never fucking heard Go DJ? SERIOUSLY?
'After his radio time is up Weezys career is going to with away and die.' ' Ultimately no amount of mainstream help can make you a big if the quality of your music is shit'. - OMFG WAYNE WAS A EXTREMELY POPULAR RAPPER FROM JUST MIXTAPES FOR YEARS SOMEONE PLEASE PUT ME OUT OF MY FUCKING MISERY READING THROUGH THIS GUYS POSTS I BEG OF YOU.

VenomBlackViper wrote:Being serious for a minute Lil Wayne & 50 Cent shouldn't be on that list, 50 Cent already fell the fuck off hard & will be even more forgotten say 5 years from now. Lil Wayne is the Nelly of this era, 5 years later no ones gonna remember him. Agreed on the rest though, also Eazy E & Snoop Dogg should be on there in place of 50 & Weezy.

LMFAO AT 50 FUCKING CENT BEING FORGOTTEN YOU RETARDED PIG. ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? THERE WILL BE PEOPLE IN FUCKING BULGARIA BLASTING HIS SHIT 50 YEARS FROM NOW. NELLYS FANBASE WAS 95% FEMALE, NOBODY REMEMBERS EASY - E ON THE SCALE OF ANY OF THESE FUCKING PEOPLE, EAzy E IN PLACE OF 50 CENT? ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?
