This except I would put GTC over Remember Me

The rest isn't even close

Remember Me is my least played song on MMLP (only cuz of the wack ass features) and I would STILL choose it over GTC, I haven't played that song in fucking months I don't even think i've listened to it since 2011 started.

EminemBase wrote:I personally think it's a bit redundant to rate them side by side like this simply because their track numbers coincide. They're totally different songs with totally different aims, so rating "Marshall Mathers" against "Seduction" based on something as arbitrary as their position seems pointless lmao.

Furthering that path, I actually can't really rate any two Eminem albums against each other as they're all so different. Except for maybe The Eminem Show vs. Encore as Encore is a more obviously linked follow-up. It's basically an unofficial sequel and given the track themes (aside from the silly ones on Encore), it's a lot easier to compare them.

With the rest though... I mean I can more easily rank the albums from my favourite to least favourite. And therefore what I think is best to worst but that's using a more... Complete 'overall' opinionated sense, with feelings on overriding themes and directions as opposed to direct and absolute comparison.

This, honestly. The songs are so different, the comparisons are pointless.

It is one thing to like a song more.

Its another to say that its better. I enjoy listening to Like Toy Soldiers more then SWA yet Stay Wide Awake is a better song

Im Back is miles ahead of Not Afraid no matter how much u enjoy listening to it

Better is subjective. You might think Im Back is better because of the subject matter in it, or the beat, or the chorus, or the rhymes, or whatever. I think Not Afraid is better because of its subject matter, the synth in the beat (not so much the drums), the chorus, the emotion, it being inspirational, the message, and some other stuff. You cant PROVE for a FACT that Stay Wide Awake is better than Like Toy Soldiers. If you like LYS more... you think its better. Maybe not as much skilled in the technical department, but that doesnt automatically make it better.

I may not be able to prove it as a fact but I can definitely make an educated opinion on the matter.
Also I can prove that Im Back is better lyrically. You really can't argue that. It had better punchlines, multis and rhyming. It also had a almost unarguable superior beat.

I think that we must like different things in song. I prefer lyrics over inspiration and emotion. I like emotion but its not really hard lol

I actually don't hate Not Afraid as much as others. But comparing it with Im Back which I consider to be a top 20 Eminem song is pointless because the only thing you can use for your arguement is how much the song means to you/inspiration.

And about Like Toy Soldiers and Stay Wide Awake

I love listening to LTS but I can not deny that Stay Wide Awake is better.

Im Back is better in terms of rap skill, I'll give you that. You should really distinguish what you mean by "lyrics". Cause rhyming, inspiration, and emotion mostly come from what is being said aka the lyrics.

And about Like Toy Soldiers and Stay Wide Awake

I love listening to LTS but I can not deny that Stay Wide Awake is better.

:facepalm

Lyrical skill is rhyming, punchlines and multis

So what your saying is if u don't enjoy listening to Lose Yourself (for whatever reason) but you enjoy listening to Drips (cause u think its funny) then you must think Drips is better. THAT is :facepalm worthy

first of all you can really compare tracks to eachother just b/c of the order on the album. but IMO every song on MMLP and SSLP is better the anything on Recovery.

The tracks should be thematically compared, as far as possible:

Kill You vs Space Bound
Stan vs Talking 2 Myself
Who Knew vs On Fire
The Way I Am vs Cinderella Man
The Real Slim Shady vs Not Afraid
Remember Me vs Going Through Changes
I'm Back vs Wont Back Down
Marshall Mathers vs Seduction
Drug Ballad vs WTP
Amityville vs 25 To Life
Bitch Please 2 vs No Love
Kim vs Love The Way You Lie
Under The Influence vs So Bad
Criminal vs Almost Famous
The Kids vs Cold Wind Blows

Stan, Kill You, I'm Back, Kim, TRSS, Bitch Please, Who Knew and Criminal would infest any Recovery-track with AIDS and fuck it senseless.

Man what's wrong with people, choosing 25 to Life over Kim? Are you fucking serious?

To me, Kim is a musical classic, it's timeless art, up there with Beethovens best spells or Shakespeare.

Had it not been for the taboo connected to expressing love for a spouse in the psychological condition Em portrayed himself to be, this one would've been overblown by art critics. Ironically, the best love song was not written by Britney, or Alisha Keys, or Madonna, but Eminem. Here is a great comment about "Kim":

Immense. Scary. Epic. Touching. Powerful. Reprehensible. Provocative. This is Eminem's tour-de-force, the most unique, singularly brilliant song he has ever recorded. Starting with a sample of a music box, Eminem talks sweet baby-talk to his daughter before exploding into a raging argument with his wife, Kim, over a piano loop that extends the arpeggios from The Way I Am (rather than gothic, it's now downright fucking EVIL), a marching funeral beat, and a mournful, pleading violin. If you want any sense of meter or rhyme in Eminem's lyrics, you're going to be disappointed. What you get instead is a deranged and utterly convincing murder fantasy that revels in its own hideousness, and a song so heavy it makes Raining Blood sound like We Are The Cheeky Girls. And the best thing about the song? You listen to him choke the life out of the mother of his child, put her in a body bag and throw her in the trunk of his car......and you SYMPATHIZE WITH HIM. Incredible.

What a provocation to rate any Recovery song over this masterpiece. Please :facepalm
