1st of all, Lil Wayne did not blow up with Lollipop, i grew up in Florida, Lil Wayne blew up with "The Block Is Hot" down here
and i hated his music back then, cuz most of the songs had a shitty ass flow and he sounded drunk as fuck, my friends, who were all older high school kids (yea i'v always hung with the older groups) i was 12, my best friend was like 16, his sister was in my school and shit and she tried gettin on me but i was dumb as fuck and ran from her, i was 12, lol, anyways back to the topic,
My friend was a big fan of Cash Money / No Limit back then, so everytime i stayed over, he was playin Lil Wayne or Master P, and i hated em both, i was a Heavy Metal fan at the time, so rap music made no sence to me, i would be playing pantera and metallica at home wondering how the fuck anybody could listen to Lil Wayne.....
Now, fast forward to November 28th, 2000, my 13th birthday, my dad bought me my 1st rap album, a guy i never heard of before, Eminem, "The Marshall Mathers LP" at first i was like wtf, and then after the 1st 3 songs i was like HOLY SHIT, lol...eminem got me into rap music, and thats when i started to rap, before rapo, i was writing rock music, Eminem is what turned me into a rapper..
but anyways, back on topic again, i hated Lil Wayne forever, never liked his music and then after awhile i slowly started to give him a 2nd chance, the 2nd time i really started hearing wayne blow up was with Lollipop, another annoying ass song, but his style changed from how i 1st heard him, so thats what made me go out and buy his cd, so, i went from hatin "The Block Is Hot" to bein ok with "The Carter 3" and one day i was at K-Mart, and they had a triple Pack, sellin "The Carter 1, 2 and 3" i bought it, never listened much, cuz my cd collection was massive at the time, so really the carter collection got skipped.
Right now as i type this, i'm goin thru "The Carter" track for track, and i like every song so far, he really elevated from what he started out as, this album so far, is great music to chill to, so what i did was download his entire discography, and there 3 songs on "The Block Is Hot" and 2 songs on "Lights Out" that stood out to me and i actually like, so, i guess you can say i'm becoming a Lil Wayne fan.
I'm gonna listen to his albums in order, i hope the rest of his cd's sound as good, or better than carter 1....
