Lose yourself is my shit. I listen to it all the time and never get sick of it.It's definately helped motivate me and got me through some hard times.
There's people that love me and people that hate me. But it's the evil that made me this backstabbing, deceitful, and shady.

Because people want a perfect album and not great tracks. So, by Beautiful not "fitting in" its bashed sometimes.

that's like ppl chosing a song over another cause they overplayed the latter.... it doesn't make sense

Exactly. but that is the unfortunate state of hip-hop listeners on here at least

It's a good song, but y'all know what the difference to Not Afraid is? It's the kinda depressed version of it. Not Afraid is more positive, powerful. If you're gonna fight you should take Not Afraid as inspiration.

You can dislike it a bit, but calling it "mediocre" is way too much. Look at the energy Em puts in. Beautiful is like: "Look, I'm ugly, the whole world is hating on me, poor me, but I'm still beautiful, no matter what you say!!!" Reminds a bit of Cristina Aguilera's song. Not Afraid is the next step in the evolution.

But hey, that's just my opinion, i'm not gonna force you to change your mind, you still won't. Image

Beautiful was had an inspirational message bout not being ashamed of who you are and u're beautiful no matter what (that's during the latter part of the chorus), not knowing what some is thru unless u can be in their eyes, that's the first part of the chorus), and eminem explaining HIS OWN slumps during the verses.

They're nothing at all alike, Beautiful is classic, Not Afraid is mediocre too....

I hate to say this, but no shit. Encore had good tracks, but it was mostly filler, and how you gonna say Recovery is worst then Relapse? I like Recovery, just my opinion. Relapse had the annoying accent, and killing, and raping people. It almost reminded me of the retarded cousin of MMLP cause of the subject matter, minus Beautiful, and Deja Vu.

It's very, very rare that I can listen to a new song and love it the first time I hear it. But As soon as I heard Beautiful I did. Up until then, I had been frustrated at hearing We Made You and 3am and the accent he was using. Beautiful I think was the first other song from Recovery I heard when it leaked, and as soon as I played it I was so relieved to hear serious Em again. I loved it instantly.

Unfortunatley, I think the video spoiled it. It was really awful. The song wasn't supposed to fucking be about Detroit, and it just missed the whole point. It was supposed to be about Eminem contemplating quitting the rap game and about the depression he was in. Feeling like he was gonna give up but saying that he'd be "one tough act to follow". The video didn't reflect any of that and I was gutted when it came out. I remember the unofficial one made by TuffJamma, showing all the old clips of Eminem and looking back on his career, was on youtube for a couple months before, and o was 100x better. Really captured the feeling of the song. As stupid as it sounds, ever since the official video for Beautiful came out, I've never really loved the song quite as much as I did before. It just took the amazingness off it a little for me.

I liked Relapse's theme, it has amazing rhyming, great story-telling, and I dont' mind the accents, it's a billion times better than Recovery, Recovery is full of shouting, horrible metaphores and punchlines, and very little impressive lyrics...

Gonna just have to disagree there man, but I respect your opinion, it's just talking about raping sluts, having sex with his step-father, and having horrible accents that stuck through the whole album made it worst, even though I enjoyed a few songs from the album.

Recovery I think has great punches, people expect him to always be the kind of rapper he was on the MMLP, SSLP, & TES, but it doesn't work that way. If you gonna apply that to Recovery, then apply that to Relapse as well- as far as all you people that expect this sh*t from him. Relapse was his worst album I think.

Even with all the bullshit songs on Encore, he still had good tracks, Like Toy Soldiers, We As Americans, Love You More, Like Toy Soldiers, Yellow Brick Road, etc.

And he really didn't shout that much on Recovery, he's been shouting a lot AFTER Recovery dropped, like on the Diddy single, and on Roman's Revenge I believe too. I can remember him shouting on the Pink song, but not much as far as the whole album goes. He shouts a lot on the MMLP- Kill You, The Way I Am, Amityville, etc. Am I wrong there?```

It's a lovely song, I agree. It has the same overall feel as "If I Had" because of the emotions reflected and the production (both have those heavy and simple drums). It's because of songs like Beautiful that Eminem is my favourite rapper of all time.

I've heard some people say it's self pitying but who cares if it is? You're allowed to feel sorry for yourself if you're in a dark place.

As for the music video, I can only agree with DanWS. The director of the video had totally misunderstood the idea of the whole song.
