I'm not sure whether to count this as a continuation to the "Emotions" thread or a hip-hop expansion of Block's thread. Either way, I figured this is a nice way to hear some stories as well as let the frequenters of the HHD expand their character and express themselves in a bird-like manner.

Master Chief wrote:Far Away and New Money by Royce Da 5'9" remind me of my first day of High School (freshmen year). The times were I was new and only knew about 3 people in the entire school so I listened to Street Hop in the halls while having no one to talk to. This was also the time where I changed as a person completely. Everything about my personality changed. Also, these songs give me so much confidence, I feel like God when I play these songs.

It has this weird nostalgia for me.

Cosh wrote:and it's kind of wierd, does anybody else get short-term nostalgia? I can't even listen to Recovery without instantly being taken back to the Outer Bank North Carolina last summer with my bro and cousins. We would listen to it riding around and all. I have great memories of the summer, but nostalgia in all forms is uncomfortable for me haha.

Bird wrote:Everytime I listen to Recovery, every song, it reminds me of last summer which was possibly the greatest time of my life.

That's a major part of why I have undying love for that album.

Blocker wrote:"Gimme the loot" by biggie reminds me of a close friend that passed.

Backstage wrote:Recovery - 2010 was the best year I lived in sooo long, just an amazing year and this album holds TONS of nostalgic value. Fuck, every song reminds me of something which makes me happy and sad, just because I'm grateful for being able to have lived through that year the way I did.

Menzo wrote:B.o.B's album that dropped last year. That shit dropped when my ex and I were starting to grow into a real couple and every song just reminds me of her which is sad as fuck.

. wrote:Relapse didn't have the impact Recovery had and I just didn't listen to it at any memorable time/place in my life.

If you listen to music alot, you tend to build memories with certain songs and albums that you associate with a significant part of your life whenever you listen to them. An example would be that Beautiful thread that I just owned, the member said that Beautiful helped him get through hard times. Now I guarantee you whenever he listens to Beautiful he will always be reminded of what those 'hard times' were and how he got through it.

So the basis is: Do you have any albums/songs/artists that remind you of a part of your life, if so what "feeling" do you get when this occurs, and feel free to share whatever part of your life it reminds you of. As usual I'll post the answer to my own topic after some observation :shifty:, play nice.

P.S. If I used the example you were going to post in the quotes up there, quote it and if you want to, expand on it.

This song reminds me of last summer because me and my best friend, who I'm not friends with anymore, used to bump this in the car whenever we went somewhere and we had some amazing times while listening to this song.

This song reminds me of when the girl I loved told me she just wanted to be friends. The emotions Sadistik was describing is spot on.

I have 3 quotes up there :smoking:

Also, count Gangsta (feat. Trick Trick) by Royce Da 5'9" as part of the Street Hop trilogy. God, I love that album :flutter:

No Apologies is a song which reminds me of when I used to never stand up for myself and kept my harsh opinions or thoughts for myself so I would listen to that song, pissed as fuck because I would never do shit to people that fuck with me (No, retard I wasn't bullied, it was just my friends that messed with me a lot). Now, I listen to that song and tell myself "look at me now", 3 years after my experience with that song. I fell in love with that song again, recently, so this is a recent feeling I've been getting.

Black Republican-Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana

My brother used to drive me around a lot and we were pretty close at the time that the Wayne and Juelz mixtape was supposed to come out (did it ever come out?), we would always bump this in the car. I always get hyped when Wayne's verse came up my eyes were like :o and I used to think Juelz's punchlines were top notch. I don't know it gets me hyped as fuck even if I kind of have a hard time listening to it now, and find the lyrics abysmal now. Still a great work out song, and I'm planning to burn the cds (as well as his Wayne's mixtapes) so I can bump it once I get a car :smoking: . (I probably won't bump any of my current in my top 10 in a car lol except probably Nas and Wu)

Stan - Eminem

We used to play this song in the car on my way to school almost every morning (around 5-6 grade), and I'd sing/rap it to myself as I walk back home in the evening. I was going to this school that beat the shit out of us, and the song was like therapy to calm me down. Although the experience was bad, I enjoy the nostalgic feeling now that I'm past that.

Go To Sleep - I was always alone, didn't know a lot of people in my last school and I was like 14, i didn't care about my look and shit.. Always on the computer and people would mock me a lot.
It's a sad period in my life but listening to that song, i don't even know why, would give me the strenght to wake up in the morning and go to school.

Beautiful - It reminds me off a girl I use to like, in the beggining of our relationship, then she cheated me while I was in holidays. Bitch.

Kanye West - Homecoming, stronger and good life. Well, during a certain time I was addicted to my xbox because i would have nothing else to do, no one to talk to and these songs would come on my mp3 player while playing GTA, now whenever i hear them i remember the sad moments where i wasn't very social.

The whole Relapse album.. Because it's during that time that I became more friendly, more open to people and start talk to them a lot.. Now i changed, i grew up a little bit, started to wear hip hop clothes, sagging my pants, that also was the period when i started to really listen to rap artits, other than Em', so i connected with it.. :'(

And finally.. A non-hip hop song, Maria maria by Santana. This song reminds me off the first time I came back to my country, to my roots after the war and how i met my whole family there, my cousins, my aunts, my uncles, everyone.. It was magic, that song was played a lot on radio stations .. Nostalgia.. I listen to that song everyday, at least one time to remember my roots and how i live far from my country.
