Relapse was the last breath from Eminem. The rapper we have now is a shell of what he once was. No matter hhow "fire Marshall" he spits, he's lost it. On Relapse, at least he was shocking. This new Eminem is just an Interscope puppet that makes music to sell.

Tell me, if he DIDN'T sell out, why is Wayne the only featured rapper on Recovery? I don't think he should have been there in the first place, but couldn't Em AT LEAST have put some other rapper? 50? Dre? D12? An upcoming MC? No, Em went with what would sell.

He's pushing 40. Leave him alone. You don't see Mark Wahlberg running around screaming "FUNKY BUNCH!!!" And it's true, people were starting to doubt Em, so he had to get his name back out. He used Rihanna, Wayne, and Pink to get attention. No one gives a fuck about D12, if he put them on No Love the song would certainly get no love. You can call him a sell-out all you want, but to me he's still the same old Eminem.

Firstly: learn what the term sell-out fucking means. It does not mean ) him making music that you don't like or making music with artists you don't like. If you dislike Recovery, that's fine - no problem with that, that's taste. But don't call it sell-out when it's simply not accurate.

He felt he had alienated his fans and also was just naturally working and, went in new directions. And wanted a new sound. There's nothing 'sell-out' about that.

And as anybody with functioning eyes able to read English and having just read and comprehended those lyrics can tell - he's as raw, ballsy, unchained, uncompromising, angry and explosive as ever. And again, irrespective of whether you like the music, new sound or whatever - that's a separate debate. But to say Recovery is mainstream or pop is ABSURD.

You simply cannot call an album with that much rapping, and that much foul-mouthed rapping, and that much intended offence and explicit violence and everything else 'pop' or IMPLY that it's pop or 'sell-out'. Sorry, access denied!, go back to the drawing board. Apply for a new argument.

As for why he has one rapper on there, ever consider because: he already has samples and other people on chorus' so he didn't want to overdo it and have 90% of his album crammed with other people like 90% of the other rappers do? Em's always tried to keep the features down. All he had to focus on for Recovery was writing verses. So he probably didn't want other rappers taking center stage.

You say the 'old Eminem' is dead. Now, by that you clearly mean his values as an artist are dead otherwise you wouldn't of said Relapse is his last breath since it's so vastly different from past albums also (stylistically speaking). So... assuming you've just read my response to this thread, on what grounds now can you possibly argue the 'old Eminem' is dead.

Again, him working with people you dislike is NOT an argument for that. Him working with producers you dislike is NOT an argument for that. Not for your argument. yeah, old em is called old em for a reason. Recovery was not an eminem album, it was a marshall album.
But i do not agree that its utter mainstream shit. if anything all those post recovery features we had were all bait for a modern audience, em now knows he has everyone's eyes on him. Which is why he's pumping out dre features, and a beastly bad meets evil cd. At least thats how i interpret their actions
