So, he WASN'T shocking on Recovery? are you insane. Are you even listening to the fucking lyrics or do you have pillows in your ears.
Some lyrical samples from Recovery songs:
I'll show you pussy footin, I'll kick a bitch in the cunt
Til it makes her queef and sounds like a fucking whoopy cushion
If you don't like it you can kiss my ass in a lint thong
Now sing along, slut this, slut that, learn the words to the song
--
Sayin you sick quit playin you prick dont nobody care
And why the fuck am I yellin at air
I ain’t even talkin to no-one cause aint nobody there
And Nobody‘ll fuckin test me cause these hos won't even dare
Bitch you listening? tryna turn me down
Slut m talking to you, turn me back up
Are you insane? tryna talk over me, in the car
Shut the fuck up while my shit's playin
Ima shit stain on - the underwear of life
--
I'm tryin to stop you from leavin
You won't even listen so fuck it
I'm tryin to stop you from breathin
--
By the grace of god,
The skin on my teeth
And the hair on my nuts I skated by,
Now y'all are on thin ice
With ankle weights I hate to lie,
How fuckin' irritated are you?
How much in ya face am I!?
And ain't shit you can do but fear it
--
Now get off my dick, dick's too short of a word for my dick
Get off my antidisestablishmentarianism you prick!
They can go get a belt or a neck tie, to hang themselves by
Like David Carradine they can go fuck themselves and just die
And eat shit while they at it
He's fucking had it, he's mad at the whole world
So go to hell and build a snowman girl
--
Now look you little slut, cunt whore, I know you want more
<<... now - are you fucking serious? and that's from throughout the entire album. How the FUCK are those lyrics compromised or censored as you're implying.
Firstly: learn what the term sell-out fucking means. It does not mean ) him making music that you don't like or making music with artists you don't like. If you dislike Recovery, that's fine - no problem with that, that's taste. But don't call it sell-out when it's simply not accurate.
He felt he had alienated his fans and also was just naturally working and, went in new directions. And wanted a new sound. There's nothing 'sell-out' about that.
And as anybody with functioning eyes able to read English and having just read and comprehended those lyrics can tell - he's as raw, ballsy, unchained, uncompromising, angry and explosive as ever. And again, irrespective of whether you like the music, new sound or whatever - that's a separate debate. But to say Recovery is mainstream or pop is ABSURD.
You simply cannot call an album with that much rapping, and that much foul-mouthed rapping, and that much intended offence and explicit violence and everything else 'pop' or IMPLY that it's pop or 'sell-out'. Sorry, access denied!, go back to the drawing board. Apply for a new argument.
As for why he has one rapper on there, ever consider because: he already has samples and other people on chorus' so he didn't want to overdo it and have 90% of his album crammed with other people like 90% of the other rappers do? Em's always tried to keep the features down. All he had to focus on for Recovery was writing verses. So he probably didn't want other rappers taking center stage.
You say the 'old Eminem' is dead. Now, by that you clearly mean his values as an artist are dead otherwise you wouldn't of said Relapse is his last breath since it's so vastly different from past albums also (stylistically speaking). So... assuming you've just read my response to this thread, on what grounds now can you possibly argue the 'old Eminem' is dead.
Again, him working with people you dislike is NOT an argument for that. Him working with producers you dislike is NOT an argument for that. Not for your argument. You're implying that he no longer speaks his mind and holds his tongue, and is compromised lyrically and artistically. Which to put it simply: is fucking babble.
