Death is Certain > any lupe album.

although im far from a lupe hater, food and liquor was a straight up classic.

lasers was dissapointing but i dont blame lupe for it,plus he said F&L 2 is coming like a month ago.

so i still have alot of excitment for future lupe albums.

I love Food & Liquor. The song "The Cool" is a masterpiece.

@Lello- Royce is by far the better MC when it comes to rhyming, delivery and flow. It's not really even debatable. As for wordplay and content, I guess Lupe is better. But his delivery remains the same on most songs.

rhyming counts, delivery and flow do count but, the wordplay and lyricism (the ones lupe are alot better at) count more, and by lyricism i don't include rhyming, i count the words being said and the manner they are used

Lyricism is close between them. The only thing Lupe is better at is concepts and content (subjective) Royce is better at punchlines but Lupe is better at wordplay (but by no means a lot better).

And your definition of lyricism is wrong. What you're describing is known as vocabulary.

Which is still a part of lyricisim, lyricism is too broad to just categorize and encompasses many different aspects, which some mcs excel at in certain parts, but falter in others.

Vocabulary is part of lyricism, of course. But, his definition is wrong.

And I agree, lyricism is too broad.

Lol at me missing this thread

Picking my favourite Lupe song would take a while. I think off the top of my head it would be between The Cool and Hip Hop Saved My Life. He is probably the only rapper ever to not have a single bad song on their first 2 albums.

Lupe really is a special rapper. He has really kept mainstream hip hop alive over the last few years. Even Lasers (which due to uncontrollable forces was worse then it could have been) had many bright moments.

His first 2 albums were just flawless. And I think his next album may be too

Just ignore MC. He is trolling to get me mad. Royce is not nearly on the same level.

No, he's trolling because he doesn't really hate Lupe and because he said he can rap better than him.

Either way Lupe>>>>>>Royce

You think he's trolling because he's saying that Royce is better than Lupe?
That would be like saying you're trolling for saying Lupe is better.
Anyway, Royce>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lupe

Let's make one thing clear. Royce is a more skilled MC. Yes? Flow, rhyming and delivery all definitely go to Royce and an argument shouldn't be necessary. Now that we established that, Royce is better at punchlines but that one is argument worthy.

I am definitely not trolling when I say Royce is better than Lupe. I have already argued this and have at least come to the conclusion that Royce has the three traits listed above to his name by a longshot.

I think Death Is Certain, BE2 & Street Hop > All Lupe.

Lupe's first 2 albums are really good, I will admit that but he is quite overrated.

^ Post above is 100% dead serious.

I think Lupe is better. He is more unique unlike Royce who's the type of MC that can be found starting in his own group, Elzhi etc. He has more versatile subject matter and is better when it comes to concept songs, storytelling and wordplay. Therefore he's also a (much) better songwriter. And I'd take Lupe's first 2 albums over any of Royce's as well. Royce on the other hand, is better when it comes to flow, rhyming and punchlines but to me Lupe's stronger sides are more important (considering his flow and rhyming are very decent).

As for favorite songs:

Failure
Hurt Me Soul
Kick, Push
The Instrumental
Kick, Push II
Daydreamin'
Twilight Zone
