Satire Presents A Topic About Friendship

Postby Satire » May 14th, '11, 03:18

Inspired by slimshadyfaggin. Pretend you're reliving your adolescence again for those of you who aren't still in it ( :shifty: ). Let's forget what happens after high school and just focus on the adventure for a second.

Would you rather...

Be socially awkward and only have 3 childhood friends. They're close to you, and they're the best friends you've ever had. They're always there for you, they talk to you frequently, would take a bullet for you, etc. The catch is one of them disappears in some way every four years, and you also have to deal with the loss of them.

Elementary - You have 3 good friends
Middle School - You have 2 good friends
High School - You have 1 good friend

And in your Senior Year you have absolutely no friends.

OR

Would you rather be socially accepted as a "popular person" on the outside through every school year. Everybody loves you at school, you're treated with the utter most respect, you're at the awesome table, everyone follows and gives you whatever you want as long as it's within that environment. But, once you leave the classrooms, you don't have any "Real friends", you're lonely and left to ponder to yourself in your house, staring at the clock until you fall asleep and then go back to your paradise for another 8 hours until you come home again.

So, which would you rather suffer through?

That actually was a case for a year in middle school tbh. But I figured I could embed it into an awesome thread idea.

option 1 describes me now, i have 3 best friends, all 3 of them i'v known for MANY years,

1 of them i have known since i was 2, our parents were bikers, my dad still rides his harley tho, but me and this girl have been best friends for all these years, almost dated but never got around to it

my other friend, Theresa, i'v known her since 99, dated her in 2001 right before i moved away to Iowa, then i moved back here to Florida and i happen to live 5 blocks away from her, we'v dated multiple times, now were just best friends that fuck alot, explain that shit lmao

and my friend Zach, i'v known him since middle school, til i moved to Iowa, after i moved back here to Florida i happened to bump into him in Wal Mart, after 9 years it's like i never left, were still best friends.

other than those 3, i don't hang with other ppl, i don't like hanging with dudes much, and girls are to stuck up, although i do talk to alot of em, most of em i'v met thru Zach, but i don't really need to go chasin other girls if i already have a girl 5 blocks away that knows me inside and out, my parents get along with her, and my lil sister loves her, it's basicly a match, whythe fuck should i even attempt to search for some other girl

:y:

(my bad, i posted this, then took it out, but, here's the post again)

EDIT

even tho I don't completely agree with the way option one is worded, i still choose option one.

let me explain...

I had this "friend" who I've known since third grade
we had hung out alot while we were growing up
we were in the same clique in elementary school (4 members)

he was sort of a loud mouth and always made fun of anyone just to get a laugh out of the people who were around him at that moment it time, he did this just to make it look like he was the "funny guy"

more than most of the time he kinda went over the top and he didn't realise he was hurting that person's self esteem

anyways,
when we got into high school
he just had to fit in
he totally fits your "option two"

one night, I was hanging out with this girl at my house
and he came over and knocked on my door
so, me and this girl came outside to talk to him
he couldn't believe I was hanging out with this girl
he didn't like the fact that one of his "best friends" was hanging out with a girl who he didnt accept

so, the next day at school he started saying a bunch of shit
talking about how me and this girl had hung out the previous night and how we had had sex
(we didn't)

the rumors flew

this girl had an older brother who went to the school
and when my friend got confronted about what he was saying
he denied everything, and blamed the whole thing on me

my friend told this girls older brother how I was saying I had sex with her
this guy believed my "friend" over me
and believed I was the one saying this stuff

after school I got confronted by about 30 of his friends
and a couple of them beat the shit out of me while a majority of the school watched
including my "friend" who had started the whole mess

I ended up dropping out of high school
because I couldn't deal with getting beat up everyday from what my friend had started.

to this day, he still hasn't apoligized to me
I've basically cut off all communication with him
I'll sometimes hear from other people that he doesn't understand why I don't talk to him anymore

suffice, i don't hate him
(because i don't want to hate anyone in life)
but, I have absolutely no intention of ever forgiving him.

So, that's why I choose Option One.

I've learned to trust No One, not even the people who you think are your friends

because they'll always betray you in the end.

tho, I do have a few close friends who I keep in touch with once or twice a month.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

tuff question, probably would choose option 1 because then I would focus more on my studies and would be able to get into college/university.
when I was in highschool i had to much fun, and I regret it because I didnt focus enough in my work.

You didn't have to edit your post, it was a great story that really helped make the thread worth reading.

Why would you be super popular at school but not at home
You think your personal attacks make up for what you lack?

Then you could just go over to their house.

you live in Hickville, and your dad is too drunk to drive, and your mom is Amish thus refusing to drive you or let you get a license.
