If you did do it like i said then I strongly disagree with you because Halo is somewhat like Eminem. Someone as famous as him is bound to get some hate and it MAY seem like he's hated unanimously but in reality the amount of respect Eminem gets is abundant.

diction wrote:That analogy is nonsensical and Halo isn't anything like Eminem other than popularity, it gets bashed by people all the time for being highly repetitive and not being innovative at all. And no Halo gets hate because it's subpar not because it's popular, Half Life is popular and it gets way more respect than Halo. It had it's 15 minute of fame like Lil Wayne and is goin to be thrown into the bargain bin in a couple of years, only people remembering it will be out of nostalgia.

diction wrote:So explain to me how the reviewers from Video game magazines are any different from the so called "idiots" that you're naming, huh? And really you're going to try and use "He's successful, fuck what you think of him!" as the crux of your argument? And your last sentence on your first paragraph is a complete strawman/non sequiter, yeah I already know he's one of the most critically acclaimed rappers off all time and acknowledge his first three albums as great, but what the fuck does that have to do with his recent material, and I know for a fact his recent material isn't anywhere as critically acclaimed as you're setting it out to be.
Uhm, yeah It's going to die out. Really a forum community, is that what you're going to cite? Who's even talking about COD, but if you really want to get into an argument that you won't win than Counter Strike pretty much shoots down your argument about Halo being the most played FPS, when CS is is WAY more popular world wide than Halo, and it has been for YEARS.
Halo's been popular for ten years because they make games for it every 3 years, so off course it's going to be mentioned, with horrible attempts at revitalizing the franchise with games like Reach and Halo Wars, should have left if for dead after Halo 3, tbh.
So no my argument doesn't fail.

Master Chief wrote:Uhhhh, yeah. Reviewers of Hip Hop music, for the most part, don't like the genre much or don't fully understand/appreciate it. I have NEVER in my life seen a review praising rhyming. They barely go into detail explaining their thoughts on the flow on different songs, overall lyricism, delivery, wordplay. They just cite a line that they think is clever, cool or controversial. Eminem as an artist, overall is considered one of the best rapper ever, right? Part of the Big 5, right? Yeah. Halo as a series is critically acclaimed. I'm sure it would make many FPS Top 10 lists.
I could cite the fact that Halo 2 is the best-selling first-generation Xbox game with 8.46 million copies sold worldwide and with at least 6.3 million copies sold in the United States or that the first-day sales of Halo 3 reached $170 million in the U.S. setting a record for highest gross of an entertainment product within 24 hours of its release. Breaking the record of Halo 2 which earned $125 million within 24 hours after its launch. Or that least four million copies of Halo 3 were pre-ordered globally, making it the fastest pre-selling game to date. Or that Worldwide more than US$ 300 million worth were sold in the first week, helping to more than double the sales of the Xbox 360 when compared with the weekly average before the Halo 3 launch. If I keep going my post would be bigger than this whole page. Bring in facts supporting that CS is more popular than Halo. Btw, I'm focusing on America here but if you want we can make this worldwide. This is all irrelevant to quality though but there's no denying that Halo is extremely popular and here to stay.
Well yeah because they're smart. They want to make sure people are wanting more from them instead of just throwing out games every year therefore decreasing the demand for the product.
The former being what Eminem does, the latter being what Wayne does. Halo Wars wasn't Bungie so I don't know if it counts but I agree that it was not necessary. Reach is absolutely amazing so I disagree there.

diction wrote:Um no, Hip Hop gets more than it's fair share of reviews especially if you look for them in the right places, now if your a doofus and take your reviews from IGN who can't review rap albums for shit than yeah, you're bound to find idiots that don't know what they're talking about.
No, Halo is critically acclaimed as a shooter for this generation and was good for a console shooter, so many PC shooters (PC shooters are better than console shooters btw, and no I'm not an elitist just the amount of options you have from modifying weapons, character designs, free maps, modifications, everything). PC shooters annihalate it, and it wasn't even the first console shooter to be really FPS friendly, that goes to Golden eye.
That's all nice and dandy but did you forget that CS started as a mod from HL, and not as some game meant to be shelved in stores. It is btw, still the most popular online FPS game off all time, or most popular online game off all time with it's only real rival being WOW. Anyways I'm not big on numbers, but I know it's been consistantly been on top even when games like COD4, BF2, TF2, just came out.
Anyone here
http://steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html
That was 4 years ago, but at it's peak I believe, can't find a current chart with all the statistics.
CS servers= 94,000
CS sources severs= 52,000
At no point in Halo's prime was it ever touching that number of servers, CS is still by the way dominant btw, whereas Halo is quickly being replaced by COD.
Oh and I could easily refute all those sales you were throwing at me with other games, but they weren't FPS, and I assume we're strictly discussing FPS, amirite? Either way, it isn't a pinnacle of the genre by any stretch and isn't akin to Eminem or 2pac in any way other than sales, maybe 50 cent, for it's popularity and trends it sets, but definitely not the heavy weights.
I see you missed the point of me even saying that in the first place, I meant to say that they make it every three years to keep it relevant, I wasn't trying to claim that they should copy Madden and shit one out every other year.
Um, no Eminem releases albums just about back to back other than his long hiatus Encore, and with that garbage I could understand why, he'd take a long break.
