I am kinda confused with chorus and the song concept, is it Em who needs a doctor(dre) or is it dre who needs Em as a doctor?

To me, I think they were playing on the fact that Dr. Dre = Doctor Dre, so I voted Eminem (unless Dr. Dre needs himself?).

In that interview, I think they were just looking at the song from different viewpoints.

Wow you guys have no idea what you're talking about, Skylar Grey is the doctor. Dre needed her because he almost got a heart attack while working out like most old people do. Eminem was just the wise cracking young, new doctor getting into hilarious predicaments in the workplace.

Both of them. Em needed a "doctor" (Dr. Dre) to come back to the game and also a real doctor because of his drug problems. Dre needs a "doctor," but his "doctor" is more in a metaphorical way. He needs that extra push to get inspired again and finish the album.

^That, is your answer.

P.S, this should have been an Em song, but I think Em having 2 verses could also been a way of helping Dre like they talk about in the song. "You saved my life now maybe it's my turn to save yours."...Em having 2 verses could've kinda been that spark/help for the song to get hype and also get hype for the album.

Em needs a doctor, so he did that song to remind Dre who he really is, couse he lost it. The car crash symbolises how Dre lost his self confidence and how he is as good as dead while being that way. Then, Em cryes how he needs him, and Dre`s recovery process is the result of that. Dre recovers and while doing that he promotes Recovery with his own recovery, finnishes Detox and boosts "hp" sales up. Skylar is like Dre`s secretary/nurse here, and the chorus is really a phone call of desperate Eminem to the doctor`s office.

Are you mad? In the video, it's Dre who is between life and death, it’s Eminem who told him to keep fighting, at no moment we see Eminem in difficulty in this video.

Eminem is still helping Dre to come out Detox.
Eminem is working like crazy since he came back.
Does he need a doctor? No, that's you! :angry:
