Collaborative Projects

Postby EyeQ200 » May 24th, '11, 21:51

Over the years we have seen some impressive attempts at collaborative albums, this is one aspect of hip hop that I truly love, seeing artists come together and producing some brilliant verses, so I have a few questions to ask:

1. What is your favourite collaboration Project/Album of all time? (Not song)
2. What is your favourite collaboration of the past 5 years?
3. What is your favourite collaborative project that fell through?
4. What collaborative projects do you think should have happened?
5. Your dream collaboration album?
6. Collaboration projects you are looking forward too?

Here are my answers:
1. My favourite collaboration album would have to be Red and Meths Blackout albums!
2. In the past 5 years there are a notable few, my favourite being Nas & Damian Marleys Distant Relatives.
3. I think the project I was most looking forward to was Dr. Dre & Ice Cube's Heltah Skeltah, a lot of the material went to the D.O.Cs album but it looks as if it would have been great, was Natural Born Killaz from these sessions?
4. I think the projects I would most like to have seen done are the BME LP/EP back in 1999, or an LP by them now! Also I would liked to have seen a Game/50 album back when the Documentary was released, another I think that could have been great would have been a Vinnie Paz & R.A album or EP, Uncommon Valour was the shit and Nosebleed is great too (although I am perfectly happy with the Vinnie/Bill project!)
5. The dream collaboration album for me would be an Eminem and Redman album!
6. The project I'm most looking forward to is the BME EP and I'm interested to see what WTT is like even though I am not a fan of neither Jay or Kanye (notable mention: Doom & Ace project)

1. I got 2: Nas & Damian Marley - Distant Relatives and Reflection Eternal - Train Of Thought. Hi-Tek is an amazing producer and Kweli's a great rapper.. Enough said. And Statik Selektah and Termanology. Or Dangerdoom project. Oh wait.. that makes 4 of them. :sweating:

2. First one that came to my mind was Nas and Damian Marley. I absolutely loved it, rap/reggae featurings are amazing. And that album was.. mindblowing. Also Talib Kweli and Justin Timberlake track on 'Eardrum'.

3. No idea tbh.

4. I like the ones you mentioned, 50's featurings on 'The Documentary' were pretty decent, I think that firing Game was a big mistake for both sides. And yeah, anything else from Vinnie and Rugged would be cool. Btw. what's that project by Vinnie and Bill? Did they release anything that I do not know about? :shifty:

5. Uhh.. Probably Nas and Talib Kweli, supported by Damian Marley and maybe Mary J. Blige..

6. I'm a little bit out of the game, since I switched back to Polish hip hop a while ago.. So I'll just leave it :sweating:

Album has the same name as one of the tracks they worked on together. 'Heavy Metal Kings', well worth a listen :b:

Definitely didn't know that, that track was great. I'm gonna check it out asap, thanks guys :b:

@ Lello's 1: Blackstar collaboration was fantastic too, 'Respiration' with Common has to be one of the best tracks I've ever heard.

I can't believe I still haven't checked out Blackstar, honestly, I was going to listen a long time ago but something more important came up (what could possibly be more important??).
I think it may be the fact that I have never really gotten into Talib or Mos Def, they are such big names in hip hop yet I haven't listened properly to either, any suggestions as to where I should start?
