I'm not the type to jump on bandwagons but I wanted to make a Backstage introduction so get at me with some questions.

So this is basically an ask a question thread?

Your favorite 90s Hip Hop album?

DITC or Wu Tang?

Big L or Big Pun?

How do you feel about The Roots removing Birthday girl from their lp?

Do you listen to post 00 Underground Hip Hop?

Did you unironically celebrate 4/20?

Would you call yourself a Ron Paul supporter?

Provincetown or San Francisco?

Do you think U2 should make more songs like "Exit?

Do you feel white mans guilt when you fantasy kill black people?

Yessir.

Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous. Big L is my favorite MC so there you go.

Definitely D.I.T.C.. I'm not into the Wu that much and 3 of my favorite rappers are D.I.T.C. members, plus Buckwild is my 2nd favorite producer.

Big L. Answer #2 explains it.

I don't have all of their albums but I like them the way they are. So I guess I don't mind it.

If you count guys such as Elzhi than yes. But I prefer '90s Hip-Hop in general.

Nah, and I've actually never smoked weed (and I say it proudly). I'll definitely do so if/when I visit Amsterdam or the US though.

I know nothing about him so no.

Not that I've visited them but I'll go with SF.

I know little about their music, so it's like whatever.

Not sure if I get you well. If you mean like killing black people in video games than no.

Lupe or Big L?

Do agree with the statement that rap now is better in ever way (technically) than the 90s?

Mos Def or Kweli?

Do you like AOTP?

Do you care about technicalities that much (multies, internals, varying flows, etc)?

Do you agree that Lord Finesse is the most underrated mc of all time?

Ever listen to MF Doom?

Big L but Lupe is in my top 3. As far as who's better, I don't think it's a fair comparison. L had a classic album at the age of 20, was dope since 16-17 and had a better flow and rhyming than Lupe. Lupe has a more versatile subject matter, better vocabulary and better metaphors. The discography part is when things get unfair so I'll leave it as it is.

No. I prefer the less is more concept and nowadays rap is like And1 while '90s rap is like the NBA. They didn't have fancy tricks but were better at what matters the most. More creative songs, more unique and consistent MCs, much better production and way way more charisma.

Most definitely Mos Def. He's in my top 10 and Kweli didn't even ride the beat right on some Black Star songs.

I respect them but I'm not a fan.

Yes and no. I do demand great flowing, changes in intonation and ish like that; I want an MC to be capable of dropping multies but I hate it when it's forced i.e. when they do it for the sake of rhyming. Poetry is one of my subjects at college, and I use mutlies all the time so it's not that big of a deal to me. It used to impress me much more while now I mostly care about conveying emotion, having great songwriting skills and getting a laugh.

That one is tricky. I think A.G. is the most underrated with Finesse at close second.

No. I checked out some of his stuff and found it boring.

Why is this thread so slept on when you produce some of the most insightful responses?

Are you with me in helping this thread overtake the Mastire thread?

Do you like Nas?

Why do you feel the production in the 90s is better than the ones nowadays?

What do you think Big L would have amounted to if he was never massacred?

What do you put more emphasis on when listening to rap music, the production, the flow, the delivery, or the lyrics?

Black Thought or Apathy who's technically superior?

Did you ever give artists like Dessa and POS a spin?

Why don't you debate more often we could use your valuable insight and you could have trashed that Old School (classic Hip Hop) vs Underground thread?

Ever listen to Percee P?

What's Hip Hop like in your country?

Do you know that you're in my top five favorite members?

Maybe because not many members are aware of me, and due to the large amount of similar threads.

I'm with you in giving fine answers so perhaps more people will like to get ones.

A lot. He's been in my top 5 ever since I first heard him. Favorite album is Illmatic, and favorite songs outside his debut are: Nas Is Like, I Gave You Power, Undying Love, Can't Forget About You and Thief's Theme.

I think they were more original and not many tracks were overproduced. Plus I love the Boom Bap sound and 5 of my favorite producers were in their prime during that era (Premo, Buckwild, Dre, Pete Rock and RZA).

I think he would have been right besides Jay-Z. He was getting a lot better already and the proper Big Picture album would have been excellent hadn't he died. He was also capable of making hit records I believe, and with Kanye in the label his discography would have been one the dopest. I just hope that he would have changed his subject matter and be more introspective.

The flow, but it's a mixture of all those really. I think the flow is the hardest part to master so I have to respect those who are great at it. However, the flow is like the looks of a girl. I have to find her attractive in order to approach her and stuff like that, but if I'm up for a relationship or just staying interested she'll need to bring some character. So the girl's personality would be the lyrics.

I haven't heard much of Apathy while I love Black Thought so I'm going with him but you can't consider it very objective.

Nope. But feel free to recommend me something.

I guess it's me being lazy in general and I needed some time to get used to the forum. I will definitely start posting a lot more once I'm finished with my exams so give me a week or two. And thanks for valuing my opinion.

Yes, he's one of the best technical rappers and had some classic battles with Finesse. But you know that the problem with him was, not releasing an album for too long. I think he wasted his potential which is a shame. Oh and that footage with Em when they rhyme in the toilet is awesome.

It's very different from the US. Our scene made its true development and reached its prime from '04-'07. There weren't many artists before that and that's when the best ones made their introduction. Ever since then a lot more people (kids) have started rapping but most of them are whack flow-less MCs (masters of copying). They do need more time though, so I guess there should be some sort a Hip-Hop renaissance in a year two. Or actually, I need more time, when I get my flow together it's ON. So anyway, in general our language isn't very good for rapping due to the lack of vocabulary and the rather big length of words. We're also short on local references so most similes refer to something from the outside. There are some MCs that are great at flowing and writing but the US has set the bar too high, so there's nothing that I can't get from foreign Hip-Hop but I'm glad that we have some talent. Plus, foreign Hip-Hop artists rarely perform in here so it's good to have local acts hosting shows so that I get to enjoy things in live as well. You can check this song out:

No but I'm glad to hear that. You're in mine as well.

What do you think of me? lol

How much effect do you think technology has had on the music industry, and how much effect do you think it will have in the future?

Why do you like old school hip-hop so much?

Why did you sign up on this forum?

Subject matter vs. technicalities?

What other genres besides hip-hop do you enjoy the most?

Are you open to trying out new things?

What makes you happy?

Seeing that you're from Croatia, I find you a Balkan brother first and foremost. Now there are many members in here so I'm not familiar with most of you. Therefore, you'll get my answer in the next little while, but I'm sure I'll think good of you.

It has made everything easier. All you need is a PC and with some equipment making and promoting music isn't too much of a problem. However, I think it has taken some of the magic out if it. Watching videos for example, was more exciting back in the days because you had to wait for them to be played on TV and you could enjoy the videos for a longer period of time. Nowadays, you go to YouTube, watch it X amount of times and the fun is over in a week. Also, the albums leak early and the feeling of unwrapping CDs isn't the same. But the pros outweigh the cons. As for the future, things shouldn't change as much.

Like I said in my previous posts, I find most things to be more unique, original and the MCs had more charisma. Eminem > Any rapper though.

I'm a huge Eminem fan and I enjoy participating in Hip-Hop forums. I was aware of this site last year as well but I thought it was too crowded and ***** kept me updated on all Eminem news through his YouTube channel.

Subject matter because great songwriting skills increase the replay value of songs.

I rarely listen to full albums but there are plenty of songs I love. I like Pop-Punk, Jazz and Blues.

Sure, but due to my laziness that mostly works in theory rather than in practice.

Little things. Music first and most, both making it and listening to it; playing and watching basketball; being with my friends of course, and not to mention females; playing video games, reading magazines and some nerdy things like that.

Yes, I also post in http://biglonline.com/ . This forum is much more crowded and there are new posts all the time, while BigLOnline used to be in a better shape but now it's kinda stuck. There are great members over there as well but it's a smaller community and the discussion are more serious. Not that we talk about deep things or something but there's absolutely no trolling.

I've actually been sleeping on A.G., and was on the bottom of the barrel for the top DITC members I would look out for. Any good songs/albums you recommend?

Ever listen to Nineteen Ninety Now? It has beats from vintage Buckwild (unreleased from 94), but the mic performances are mostly from AOTP members, though I know O.C. makes a guest appearance.

Favorite region? (2/3 of your top 3 are from the midwest, but your top 10 is littered with Mid 90s East Coast rappers)

Ever listen to early 00 West Coast Alternative? (Blackalicious, Zion I, People Under The Stairs, Deltron 3030)

Most overrated rapper?

What animated shows do you watch?

Top 10 most played songs atm?

Goodfellas is the best Showbiz & A.G. album (Runaway Slave, their debut, is at close 2nd). Songs you should check out are: Next Level, Next Level (Nyte Time Mix), Spit and Soul Clap.

I gave it a quick listen, yes. Loved the beats but I don't have the 320kbps version so due to my OCD that's a problem.

Yeah, I have to say the East coast. But I love how Chicago and Detroit get down.

I've only heard Alphabet Aerobics. And as far as alternative west coast goes, The Pharcyde are my favorite act.

Biggie.

South Park, DBZ, The animated series of Batman and Spider-Man and Chris Colorado have been my favorite through out the years.

Halftime (Elzhi), Fast Lane and Selfish (Slum Village). The rest is the usual i.e. random tracks from my top 10 artists.

Yes, very insightful answers indeed, hopefully this doesn't stay slept on for too long.

Do you listen to Mobb Deep?

Thoughts on Boot Camp Clik/Black Moon/ Enta Da Stage/ Dah Shinin?

Do you feel that Big L's punchlines would evolve with the times to keep up with the newer punchline rappers like Joe Budden, or would he have kept his wordplay relatively simple and focused on his flow, rhyming more?

Or do you think he would have dropped punchlines altogether?

Favorite rap album ever (incase I didn't ask this before)?

Ever plan of moving out of your country or are you there to stay?
