Yeah, I was wondering why you didn't ask me questions even though, I flood your thread questions all the time.

Yeah, excuse me for that. I actually thought that dead prez was some other member that I only noticed in the first week of my presence in here. If there was "diction" in the tittle I would've started asking question much earlier. Thing is, I usually overlook the members names when reading through pages and instead associate them with their respective avatars; which in your case was changing a lot.

Do you think that it's OK to be a stan as long as you're aware of the given person's flaws and your opinions regarding them are always objective?

Lol, well I consider myself an Eminem stan (among other people) because I buy his CDs, books, am a member of this forum, care about a lot of details regarding him, used to have his posters on my wall etc. However, I'm always objective and don't ride his dick.

C.R.E.A.M wrote:Who's the funniest Boondocks character ?

Funniest, just funny than probably Riley. He reminded me of myself when I was a lot younger and like how he's supposedly a satirical representation of the misguided youth who are mainly influenced by rap, violence on tv, etc. And I do like how he and Huey are foils to each other.

Huey's probably my favorite character though, and am very akin to him and see eye to eye with him on many things.

Oh and Cindy's funny I guess, I found this hilarious.

Who do you think is better, Gangstalicious or Thugnificent, or Eat Dirt ?

This gets weekly spins on my iphone, truth.

Granddad's returning diss tracks to Thugnificent had some great multi's, don't you agree ?

Yep

Nate Dogg did one of his best work in "Eff Granddad", what do you think of his hook there ?

You really like Boondocks don't you?

His hook was great, but the music video deterred the attention away from the rapping.

Slim Fiasco wrote:The Godfather vs. The Shawshank Redemption?

I haven't watched The Godfather (blasphemy I know), and only recently watched Shawshank Redemption, and it was in my Criminology Class, no less.

I do however love Shawshank Redemption though a lot, I'm not good with the whole breaking down of the movies or giving a brief review. But I really can't find many flaws in that film, and felt it was very fullfilling ending, that satisfied me and didn't make me beg for more. It had perfect closure basically.

Tom Hanks vs. Al Pacino?

Tom Hanks

Have you watched Good Will Hunting?

No, I'm not a movie buff and my knowledge on films leaves a lot to be desired.

Favorite comedy?

The Passion of the Christ

What do you think of shows like American Idol?

I don't think much about them, and don't really give one shit about them, I know my mom likes them, loll.

What do you think of the conspiracy theories surrounding 2Pac's death?

I think a lot of them are pretty juvenile, though, I wouldn't completely rule out any possiblities. I'd like to keep an open mind as well, do I think he's in Cuba somewhere though, no...

Are you a fan of video games? And if so, San Andreas vs. GTA IV?

I used to be a pretty big gamer, but my brother sold my Xbox 360, so I don't really keep up with the latest video games.

I do like the Elder Scrolls series, Fallout, Half Life, and fighting games in general.

I never really played GTA and was never much of a fan of it, though I could see the appeal, and since I like open ended games like Elder Scrolls/Fallout, I might like them.

ThomasAguanis wrote:How do you feel about the success of this thread? If it wasn't made for you, would you have made it yourself?

I couldn't have done it without you, though I don't think it deserves to be this popular since I rarely give insightful answers and only really answer questions pertaining to me. I do like answering any Hip Hop related questions though, that'd probably produce the most insightful responses.

Oh and no I probably wouldn't have, I'm not one that likes to follow trends, I have too much pride, if I did, I'd probably try to put unique spin on it, as to not look like all the other "Ask X a question".

Slim Fiasco wrote:Do you think that it's OK to be a stan as long as you're aware of the given person's flaws and your opinions regarding them are always objective?

Definitely, but there's polarizing definitions of stans that vary, whether it be the logical level headed one that can debate pretty well and doesn't let it cloud his judgement, or the "blind" stan that doesn't know much about other Hip Hop and stays pretty ignorant.

I have no problem stans that are the former, I just hate ignorance, but mostly willfull ignorance where people claim Eminem is by far the best rapper ever, without listening to a wider variety of Hip Hop outside whatever's on MTV.

Eminem is great though and it's perfectly reasonable to believe he's the best mc ever, as he's mastered many aspects of mceeing and few can match his internals in his prime, but what really separates him from cookie cutter multies mcees, is that the rhymes don't lead him. They're aren't forced and he can tell a story and make all different types of songs while still keeping consistant multies, many underground rappers base their entire style on multies. And this is where I can understand where you would have the less is more concept, as they put rhyming above actual song making.

If you meant specifically you, well you like DITC so you're alright, and just be glad the rapper you're stanning is actually good.

I meant in general but thanks, haha.

OK, on to the next ones with the focus on Hip-Hop (no need to answer them all at once):

How do you like Brand Nubian?

Have you listened to some kid rappers that had dope production ala Da Youngsta's and Illegal?

Big Daddy Kane vs. Kool G Rap?

Have you heard Fat Joe's Represent and do you agree that he was good back in the days?

Better OutKast album, ATLiens or Aquemini?

How do you like Das EFX?

How do you like The Pharcyde?

Would you agree that Drop is the best Hip-Hop video of all times?

How do you like Breaking Atoms by Main Source?

How do you feel about KRS-One in his prime?

Do you listen to Beyoncé?

Do you listen to Nickelback?

Is 'At The Speed Of Life' by Xzibit one of the most slept on hip-hop albums of all time?

Is 'Illadelph Halflife' one of the coolest album titles ever?

Electoral College

Slim Fiasco wrote: How do you like Brand Nubian?

I like One for All and like how they're one of the first militant rap groups of their time. They have a ton of personality, with very polarizing styles, that's reminiscint of Public Enemy meets ATCQ, I appreciate the blending of Native Tongue style lyrics with a touch of political lyrcs.

That's all I've really heard from them, though I've heard some good thing about Sadat X's solo career, though he has a tendency not to rhyme at times, which may turn off a lot of potential fans from his music, which is very akin to E-40.

Have you listened to some kid rappers that had dope production ala Da Youngsta's and Illegal?

If you consider Mobb Deep "kid rappers" than I loved The Infamous and HOE, probably two of some of my favorite Hip Hop albums of all time. The Infamous had great production that encapsulated the Noir era that few were able to replicate (Da Shinin), not to mention Prodigy's voice just blends well with them.

The production on HOE is a bit too repetitive though, and he tries to emulate Rza on Liquid Swords and obviously doesn't pull it off as well.

Big Daddy Kane vs. Kool G Rap?

G Rap

-Evolved with the times
-More consistant
-Started Mafioso
-Better Storyteller
- I just like his overall style better

Have you heard Fat Joe's Represent and do you agree that he was good back in the days?

I heard bits and pieces, but yeah Fat Joe was great back in the day and was backed up by slamming production. He wasn't phenemonal or innovative, but he could hold his own with other DITC members, and not get clowned.

It's such a shame, he's one of those mcs who fall under the "could have been so much more", but didn't (Method Man). I also don't like how he turned his back on the East and is riding on the South's coattails.

Better OutKast album, ATLiens or Aquemini?

Atliens I guess.

How do you like Das EFX?

Haven't given them a proper listen.

How do you like The Pharcyde?

I liked Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde and are one of the pioneers of West Coast alternative, making their own sound, along with J5. They presented lighthearted fun that could get a crowd hyped and like how Mobb Deep encapsulated the gritty east coast noir sound they did the same for the west with their funky production. Not to mentionin they have some of the most energetic mic perfomances of all time, a lot of rap nowadays focuses so much on how many multies they can fit into each bar, but have the same montonous delivery that is boring to listen too. Well these guys have their voice and delivery perfected and are true mcs if there ever was one.

Would you agree that Drop is the best Hip-Hop video of all times?

No that goes to Daytona 500, they were the ones who started that amv making shit.
How do you like Breaking Atoms by Main Source?

One of the best producer-mc albums off all time, and I appreciate how it has a cohesive sound. Large Professer is a decent mc who might have been a simple lyricist but he got the point across, and had a clear delivery.
How do you feel about KRS-One in his prime?

Honestly, I haven't given him a proper listen.

ThomasJ wrote:Do you listen to Beyoncé?

No

Do you listen to Nickelback?

Heard a few of their songs and they seem to fit the description of angsty buttrock perfectly.

Is 'At The Speed Of Life' by Xzibit one of the most slept on hip-hop albums of all time?

Don't listen to Xzibit

Speaking of that album, what do you think of "The Foundation"?

The Geto Boys album? Meh

Is 'Illadelph Halflife' one of the coolest album titles ever?

It's up there

I like

-illmatic
-Mama said knock you out
-Intoxicated Demons
-Black On Both Sides
-Donuts
-Liquid Swords
-Fear of a Black Planet
-Blazing Arrow
-The Blast Radius

more though

Favorite book?

Catcher in the Rye, I like Holeden Caulfield's character a lot, though I'm not akin to him at all. Just found him interesting, it's pretty funny though, I didn't read that book when it was assigned to me in school, but decided to pick it up a year or two after it was assigned. Would love to see a movie adaptation of it.

I might seem like a nerd (even though I'm not), but I also like Nonsense by Rober J gula since it taught me a lot about logical fallacies and the like. (lolz)

I'm reading Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals by Immanuel Kant, even though it's a difficult read for me, but it's a nice challenge.

I'm actually not an avid reader, though I should start reading more.

During the process of discovering new artists & realizing Eminem isn't as good as you first thought he was, did you also start to think that his best stuff is also a bit overrated?

Yes, but I was never pretentious about it nor did I flaunt around the fact that I listen to more Hip Hop than just what's on the radio to my friends, I've shown them a few underground tracks here and there, but I don't think they really like the sound. It might be an acquired taste honestly, my brother got me into Hip Hop and has a huge stockpile of Hip Hop Cds (filled with Wu Tang, Nas, Jay z, Eminem, Biggie, etc) doesn't listen to Underground and prefers the mainstream feel like Drake/Wayne/ (new) Lupe Fiasco, etc. over what I'm listening to. Which is respectable not everyone is going to like the underground, maybe they don't like the beats or feel that most have no personality, etc.

I was never really connected with Eminem's music to begin with to put him on a pedestal, so me discovering new artists, never really surprised me. Do I think he's overrated, yes & no.

I believe he's one of the best rhymers of out time bar non, and was the best to pick up a pen, and make all types of music. The only flaw I can find in his music (prime) is that I get bored of his humor and introspective music quickly, and don't find that much layered thematic writing in his music laced with metaphors, and I'm not even talking about pseudo intellectual tripe either. I guess you can say substance, or content, he lacks a lot of it at times.

As for his albums, I feel like they're filled with a lot of filler and pointless skits, not to mention I was never to keen on his production, he easily outshines them.

Your thoughts on T.I.?

He's a good mainstream artist and makes nice music to vibe too, but that's it. I guess he's decent, and I would bump his shit in the car, but he's not an artist that I can really hold up in high esteem. I will say that he was able to take the southern pop sound that was prevalent at the time he was really huge and not be utter shit.
