5. Take from Me
6. Loud Noises
7. The Reunion
8. Echo
9. I'm On Everything
10. A Kiss
11. Lighters
I don't get why everybody loves "The Reunion" so much. Just because of his tone / flow being more reminiscent of MMLP days. Because, it's much less structured than back then and it just sounds like he's talking. I'd much rather him flow like "Fastlane" now, much more entertaining.
And, "Lighters" would be my least favourite due to how out of place it is on the EP. I think all the other tracks fit fine and without this track it would been top-to-bottom good tracks, which all mesh. Which is, the aim. And, I think it has an overall sound and doesn't sound patchy like Recovery.
"The Reunion" is just pretty meh to me. It has a class hook by Em but it's very aimless. Which, a lot of their rhyming is but at least it's usually entertaining. And I usually love his OTT misogyny for its sake but, only when it's witty and entertaining. Which, here it wasn't for me. It was just flatly descriptive and pointless. Done to much better effect on say "Same Song & Dance".
That was my first listen right through though so some tracks may grow on me.
It's because mean eminem making a reappearance... Its dark, gloomy and bad as.. Exactly what true fans been waiting for.. at least what I have been - im sure i speak for some, if not most
A 're-appearance'... 'dark'... 'gloomy'... ? where have you been. How is Relapse not that, how are songs like "Cold Wind Blows" and "Almost Famous" not that?
It's the style you love, the voice.
People are just obsessed with his old voice. They call Relapse trash because they can't get past the voice(s) when the writing and content is insane and far superior to something like "The Reunion". Which he could write in his sleep. So, you've been waiting for that style.

How do you taste canvas anyway?
Can someone explain what it means if he says canvas?

Song has a similar feel to Almost Famous.

I think it's a pretty great verse.
I think the writing / structure is good given the fact it's focused and about a real issue as, I think generally you could say it's harder to write like that about such a thing, than it is to write like that about random violence and 'MC shit'.
I also love the "FUCK EM" and the "Slaughterhouse I GIVE YOU... !" is quite epic. He's playing around with a lot of formations and... styles within styles lately and every now and then he hits the nail on the head. For me, "Cinderella Man" is about the best he's been since return, or certainly, close to. The last verse on that for example, it's just very adult and smart.
And, this verse reminds me of that, like "farewell I bid you" and "Slaughterhouse, I give you...", the phrasing is more adult and poetic. Which I think he pulls off better now than 'rapper talk' given his age and and image. I think it's more fitting to who he is now.
I do love the shouting madness when maxed too. His "Almost Famous" verses, his "Fame" verse and his "Living Proof" verses are like cocaine to me. Especially when he ends the line on a huge yell, it's like he's just forcing his brain to the limit, even if it is through noise, it's just very satisfying to listen to, to me. Even though it annoys the fuck out of a lot of fans.
But, when it's structured it's something else. Like I say, the "Fame" (D12) verse is just... awesome. The shouting is done just right and it's emphasized on a repeated rhyme scheme. It's eargasm.
