CC: Your Top 10 Rappers' Flaws

Postby Satire » Jun 15th, '11, 02:32

You don't necessarily have to write as much as I did, just atleast a sentence for each spot.

Blu: He uses the same delivery on literally every track, for better or worse with the beat. It really shows in his recent work with the Electric Circus sh** he's been on with NoYork. He also, in the words of diction's idol, "doesn't seem to give a fuck about the synergy of his product", with a portion of his work being completely unmixed or having ass production.

Nas: His voice can seem a little monotonous at times, which is why I can understand if people say he "bores them". I'm also not too enthusiastic about his choice of beats either.

Slug: There's really no identifiable "flaw". I guess, he's one of my favorite artists but I doubt many people would consider him as much of a god in the technical aspect. I don't give a fuck really.

P.O.S.: His sound can come off redundant in the sense that he doesn't change it much, but instead it grows every album, from Ipecac Neat to Audition to Never Better It's always that classic Doomtree-type production, but just more polished and refined on every release. In that essence, his albums are also uniquely different from each-other at the same time.

Lupe Fiasco: His delivery is similar on every track, and just like Slug he isn't much of a 'technical' rapper. Also he sounds like a fucking bitch 7% of the time.

Joe Budden: His grouch-voice can get fucking annoying, he hardly switches up his flow, you could classify him as "Emo" and just like Blu it's either the quality or instrumental that ruins alot of his potentially great work.

One Be Lo: It's almost amazing how primitive some of the beats he spits on are. It's fucking funny that he actually pays producers to give him these beats rather than the other way around seeing as how he basically carries every song that he's on.

Akala & Black Thought: See Slug, Black Thought to a lesser extent.

Copywrite:

Alot of the "flaws" here are pretty similar for each artist, but it's no more redundant than the technical faults I'm speaking of. Everybody already knows what I think so I'm not even going to speak on Eminem, I'll let somebody else.

Lil Wayne: Started using multies.

Soulja Boy: Misspelled name, should be Soldier Boy.

Gucci Mane: Got tattoo of ice cream on his face, needs to be careful because Rick Ross may bite it off.

Wocka Flocka Flame: Wocka Flocka Rocket sounded so much better, he should have kept that name.

Lil B: Hasn't fucked my bitch yet.

Drake: Stealing female fans from Lil Wayne.

I only like 6 rappers. :coffee:

Eminem - Basically what others have said, taste in music, shouting is annnoying at times, hit and miss punchlines; etc.
Crooked I - Subject matter sometimes gets boring, however mixed it up a bit with slaughterhouse. Lack of concepts.
Ghostface Killah - Can't really say anything here :confusion:
Redman - Nothing that i can really pick out, obviously with such a big body of work there are times when subject matter is repeated.
Nas - As others have said, can be monotonous.
DMX - Thin spread of work due to prison, energy level has seemed to dim.
Ill Bill - Subject matter on the KDH and ~HMK albums are starting to get boring, flow too.
Canibus - Voice now is sometimes uncomprehendable, subject matter is also not great at this moment in time.
Immortal Technique - Political views are very.. yeah. But for me that's not such a big problem, although sometimes it gets a little repetative.
Vinnie Paz - Not really a lot to say here, only reason he isn't higher is because i got kinda bored of him.

I haven't checked out his Harry Potter album properly yet, only the songs Dragon Of Judah, Air Strike & Only Slaves D.R.E.A.M (Air Strike was absolute shit, his disses are weak as a whole, he claims this great track record but really it isn't that great :sweating:)

Big L - Besides being dead his subject matter wasn't very versatile.

Eminem - No complains on prime Em but the current one is amid flaws, the biggest one being his voice and flow.

Lupe Fiasco - His delivery has worsen after The Cool and obviously the Lasers situation.

Kanye West - Beat selection is still top-notch, discography is excellent and honestly I don't need him to be more technical. So yeah, that would be his flaw but I don't mind it.

Nas - He should have changed his flow more during the course of his career.

A.G. - His flow has worsen as well, and his solo albums aren't good.

Lord Finesse - He should have dropped more albums and maybe easy up on the punch-lines a bit.

Elzhi - He has only got better so now I only need more albums from him.

2Pac - His main flaw was in his personality rather than his music which eventually cost him his life.

Mos Def - He got lazier and lazier after Black On Both Sides and I don't like his later music as much. Black Starr was a great album though.

im just gonna go around random rappers i love.

Eminem: Voice and Flow,Encore,Hit and Miss tracks.

Nas: sometimes can sound boring,sometimes.

Crooked I: he needs to do concepts and hop out just a lil bit out of the gangsta figure

Joe Budden: Also,we have had enough of depressants from joey,i dont mind more as they are great but would love to see something different.

Copywrite: Better production and better features, back to more punchlines.

royce: content is his biggest flaw.

Lupe Fiasco: he needs to go back to doing F&L although i would love to see him flow in a hardcore-ish way at times because tbh sounds like a girl sometimes

Possessed: i need a solo album immediately, needs to move away from the other wack RA dudes.

Kanye West: when u make a great fucking beat, let jay write some of you're shit, nah lol just improve the lyricism.

thats it for now
The devil ain't on a level same as him!

I'm going to attack not just their music, but flaws in their careers. A lot of these aren't my top ten, btw, but I find it easier to critique some of them.

Nas: Wasted career, yeah I know he's a legend, but he can have been so much more, tbh. Follows trends rather than sets them such as Mafioso, the Jiggy holocaust, which the latter almost cost him his career. Can be preachy at times, and monotonous, rarely changes his flow and infliction in the same songs, and needs more One Mic esque songs. Oh and a lot of his beats are asscheeks. Can be criticized for relying on gimmick to try and keep up with the sales (HHID/Untitled)

Ghostface: Has a very unique style which might turn a lot of people off, with the way he spits random non sequiters, and stream of conscious lyrics. The thing though is that he actually executes them well, unlike other rappers that just throw in punchlines that have no place in the verse, Ghostface specializes in being unpredictable and random (fanboy rambling).

A lot of his topics pertain to drug trafficking I guess, and obviously not everyone is going to be fond of them.

Needs to switch up his beats more often, like Fishscale.

Not really a technical rapper.

Gift of Gab: He makes a lot of uplifting, upbeat music, and might not sit well with fans who like hardcore rap.

Tends to sacrifice substance for having a sheer amount of multies.

Has a geeky voice and his melodic flow might turn some people off.

Needs another album akin to Blazing Arrow, Escape 2 Mars was horrendous lmfao.

One Be Lo- What Satire said was true, his beats are beyond asscheeks, though MOTU had some decent beats, it's amazing how badly he outshines them.

Oh and he might come across as preachy and self righteous in MOTU, for the way he and Senim Silla constantly decry the mainstream, even though it was garbage at the time (minus Eminem), and might seem like he's wallowing self pity way too much.

Comes up with corny ass concepts such as that Werewolf song, lmao.

Dessa:Her voice is either a hate or love it deal. If you don't like "poetical" type rappers, that you might not like her music that much. Oh and if rappers who fluctate between singing and rapping (K-os) piss you off stay away from her, and lastly she's not great with multies that much.

Prodigy: Is a huge bitch outside of music, which kind of kills his whole gangsta persona, and is a huge trash talker. Not that skilled and fell off horribly, worse than just about any other good rapper.

Del Tha Funkee Homosapien: I honestly haven't listened to him that much other than Deltron 3030 (which is amazing) and BSOTB, but the latter has meh production. He's also the type of rapper that tends to focus more on his rhyming than what he's saying at times. That's all I could really fault him for, and he needs to drop Deltron 3030 II.

Black Thought: Too consistant...
