Because nobody gives a fuck about Basketball outside of the US.

Even though the Finals MVP is from Germany? Other than
U.S., Europe is the second biggest country for b-ball. And to say it's only in the U.S. Is stupid as shit. Other than soccer/football every pretty much every sport is more prominent in the U.S. Oh, and Kareem top 50? I'd say top 5. Leading scorer in league history plus shot for high percentage.

I saw that picture today on some website, and I showed it to my friend. We got quite the kick out of that. Em looks tired and Kareem looks so happy to be meeting Em.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at one point was the center that Shaq was in the 2000's. Go to youtube.com and watch some clips of this legendary athlete. And not to mention the inventor of the "hook shot". Hence, Kareem's "SKYHOOK " T-shirt .

I think he is in TOP 10 of all time.

Lithuania is a basketball country. Basketball is called 2nd religion there. There are a lot of countries in Europe that love basketball too (Serbia, Greece, Russia, etc.)

Ha.

It's the 3rd most popular sport in the world behind Football and Cricket (only because of the 1 billion people + in India).

So yeah, no. Sorry. Nice try though.

I'm from Norway, and basketball is rarely mentioned anywhere here.. I know who Michael Jordan is, and that's really that

I'm not saying you're an idiot for not knowing who Kareem is, I'm saying easily common knowledge that people know who Kareem is though. I mean outside of his illustrious sports career, he was in one of the most iconic films ever made in Game of Death with Bruce Lee which has been referenced a million times since and is a huge part of pop culture.

Plus, google is your friend.

Common knowledge to know who Kareem is?
I don't think so, buddy. :coffee:

Now, there is a lot of people who have no idea who, for example, Kofi Annan is. Or Michael Jordan.
Now, that's a common knowledge.
I think no one in Europe really cares THAT much about basketball.
We care about football. That's really it, homie.

Firstly, lets establish this isn't a big deal at all. I mean, who really cares at the end of the day?

Anyway, when I say common knowledge (I tend to overuse this word), I mean not majority, but the average Joe. The name Kareem Abdul Jabbar is very well known, perhaps some people don't know what he did, but whether it's for his basketball career (record points scorer in NBA history), fashion (those glasses) and film (Game of Death), he's well known. For example, pre-Yao Ming, Asia didn't have big basketball fanbase, but Kareem was just about the most loved person from the US in Asia, he was an ambassador at one point because of his Bruce Lee film.

I'm a bit surprised at how someone from Croatia is saying no one from Europe really cares about Basketball, are you serious? I have access to Eurosport, and after Football, Basketball is ALWAYS the sport that gets headlines. Ex-Yugo countries love Basketball more than anyone in Europe from everything I see. RIP to Drazan Petrovic whilst we're at it.

You're really dumb to say that. Basketball probably is the 2nd most popular sport in Europe. And yes it is a common knowledge to know who Kareem is.

Oh honey.... when Petrović died, Croatian basketball died with him.
I do know who Kareem is, because I do watch basketball. But, it's ok when some people don't know.
And i don't think that's weird.

Right now, in Croatia two biggest sports are.... football and handball. Now, most of Americans have absolutely no idea what the hell handball is.
Basketball is very popular, but our team sucks right now. We have players who maybe are talented, but they don't have fire that Petrović had. And I don't even want to talk about how hard Petrović worked. These days, players don't even do as half as work he did. So.... our basketball team is pretty disappointing. It's a painful subject... :sweating:
