Now, there is a lot of people who have no idea who, for example, Kofi Annan is. Or Michael Jordan.
Now, that's a common knowledge.
I think no one in Europe really cares THAT much about basketball.
We care about football. That's really it, homie.

Second biggest sport in Europe? You gotta be kidding me. Handball is waaay bigger than basketball, lmao

I have same opinion on American football. Yet, you guys seem to love it. And... between sport, any kind of sport and male masturbation you would chose the other thing? Do you have anything to confess, buddy?![]()
@LK5
Here is the way I see it.
In your country handball is not popular, because you suck at it. In my country, we kinda forgot about basketball, because we suck at it.
Get it? But the truth is that we don't care THAAAT much about basketball as Americans do.
Football is no.1 sport in Europe. Fact. Basketball is not as nearly popular as football is.
For Americans it's common knowledge to know who Kareem is, and in Europe, common knowledge is knowing who, for example, Maradona is.
That's all I've been trying to say.

Anyway, when I say common knowledge (I tend to overuse this word), I mean not majority, but the average Joe. The name Kareem Abdul Jabbar is very well known, perhaps some people don't know what he did, but whether it's for his basketball career (record points scorer in NBA history), fashion (those glasses) and film (Game of Death), he's well known. For example, pre-Yao Ming, Asia didn't have big basketball fanbase, but Kareem was just about the most loved person from the US in Asia, he was an ambassador at one point because of his Bruce Lee film.
I'm a bit surprised at how someone from Croatia is saying no one from Europe really cares about Basketball, are you serious? I have access to Eurosport, and after Football, Basketball is ALWAYS the sport that gets headlines. Ex-Yugo countries love Basketball more than anyone in Europe from everything I see. RIP to Drazan Petrovic whilst we're at it.
Oh honey.... when Petrović died, Croatian basketball died with him.
I do know who Kareem is, because I do watch basketball. But, it's ok when some people don't know.
And i don't think that's weird.
Right now, in Croatia two biggest sports are.... football and handball. Now, most of Americans have absolutely no idea what the hell handball is.
Basketball is very popular, but our team sucks right now. We have players who maybe are talented, but they don't have fire that Petrović had. And I don't even want to talk about how hard Petrović worked. These days, players don't even do as half as work he did. So.... our basketball team is pretty disappointing. It's a painful subject...

Did you just call "handball" a sport ?

Croatian basketball sucks now. But, I have my hopes up for it. We will be big in basketball once again. And it`s nice to see the respect for Dražen Petrović, props to stillmatic.
Jabbar is a legend, I`m surprised to see people dom`t know who he is.Slayer661 wrote:I just have to say "Handball" is the most pathetic excuse for a sport I've ever seen. You should try to play a game of handball and get your ass kicked, so then you would see what it takes to play it.
