Royce is a better MC, but Yelawolf is a better artist. And I'd much rather listen to Yelawolf's music than Royce's. So overall, I'd vote Yela.

Can't believe I'm seeing people say Royce is a better ARTIST. Better MC I'll give you, Yela's punchlines or hip-hop lines don't come close to Royce's best. In his prime.

But, as an artist - Yelawolf understands so many more elements, has so much more potential and so many more ideas. Royce is a very basic guy in artistic terms. He can be an extremely good rapper but there's a big different between a great rapper and great artist.

Kanye for example isn't the best rapper, but he's light years ahead of most rappers, as an artist. Totally different world, and so much better. I'd prefer a great artist over a great rapper. I am a hip-hop, flow and lyric fiend but... to me, artistic ideas and creativity is more lasting.

Also, whilst speaking of Royce, i can't believe I'm hearing everyone, including Royce say he's a much better rapper than he used to be. The punchlines he spits now don't come close to the ones he used to spit in my opinion. His brilliant flows and structure of late aside, his ideas are very basic and not that much resonates as truly clever.

But, when he used to go neck and neck with Em in the day - especially in the infamous 12 minute freestyle, he was a lot better. Especially considering, he was nearly keeping up with a PRIME Eminem. The Eminem that was spitting left-field genius non-stop.

Royce on Fast Lane destroyed Eminem based on rhyming and flow. Same with Echo, Living Proof and Take From Me. Royce's flow on Take From Me was flawless. As an artist, not close to Em? Not nowadays but we'll have to see what Success Is Certain brings considering he said that's gonna be a very introspective album. DIC is Royce in his prime as an artist and that DOES come close to Eminem's level of artistry.

None of those flows touch Em's best flows. And he's only got bits of stretch in his tones - Em can bounce between intensities in his vocal tone even when spitting at speed and his structures can be incredibly complex and ten fold more impressive than Royce's.

Almost any flow on The Eminem Show > any of Royce's.

"Criminal" flow > those flows. Royce can't be as tight or consistent. It's not just about speeding through flows, he can't structure in such tight consistency as Em can. And no, he's never been close to Em's artistry. Not at all. Not even in the same league. Royce is a rapper, Eminem was a genius. Royce is not a genius. At all.

A lot of the things Royce says I could come up with myself, back in the day his punchlines were fantastic but there's more to rap, or being an artist or a lyricist than punchlines and 'hip-hop talk'. Not saying that's all he can do but he can't do much more.

Yes I have heard Royce's material. I am a fan of Royce. Don't assume I don't listen to him or I dislike him just because I don't agree with you.

Nothing on Street Hop is even mildly comparable to Em's best flows. And none of the material is anywhere near as compelling. It's very basic hip-hop, very basic subject-matter and aside from his execution, standard stuff that I'd expect any half decent rapper to spit. He's not in a league of his own. Eminem absolutely was. A world of his own even.

Eminem was a groundbreaking artist, an intensive wordsmith and a genius. Royce is just 'a decent rapper' of which there are many. He's not groundbreaking, not mind-blowingly original, in fact... hardly original at all, plenty of rappers spit the same shit he does.

He's never made 'genius' material, he's never made things the rap game hasn't heard before. He's also not as witty, not as creative and not much of an artist.

To say Royce was or is as good as or close to the level of artistry Eminem was in his prime is just absolutely laughable, and you're crazy. And I think Royce would laugh and put you in a straight jacket too.
