At the Speed of Life

I fucking love X's first two albums. Restless is good too but his first two are fantastic.

At the Speed of Life is a true classic to me. Top to bottom. Such a gritty resonance to it, such a good effort. He truly is underrated and rarely mentioned.

I play it a lot, just on repeat non-stop.

What's people's general feelings on this album?

It's a very underrated album. My favorite X album behind "Man vs. Machine".

Hearing "Paparazzi" & "The Foundation" back to back is an amazing experience.

Well come on then man lmao.

Okay, yeah you're technically still not a fan and can say that if somebody doesn't inspire you to listen to them but, can't really say it like you've given him a chance.

Listen to his first two. Especially At the Speed of Life. Total classic. Most people who have just heard "X" or seen him on MTV and never properly listened to him are missing out, and have the totally wrong perception of him. I used to be one of those people.

Not properly. I have listened a few times though I think but not properly payed attention to it yet and can't remember it completely. I was a late comer to Xzibit and when I started listening to him properly I listened from day one and I listen to things repeatedly a lot. So was a while before I even moved on to his second album, then a good while until the third.

Haven't really moved on since then as was following people in between and a lot of new shit caught my ear. I've kind of been saving them too. As it's not that often I discover somebody who I'd known about a long time but never fully listened to, and then they really get in my ear and impress me... so when it happens, and they have a big discography - is kind of like being a kid in a candy store, I wanna savor every sweet lmao. So knowing I always have some new X albums to tuck into is nice.

I'll listen to it properly soon though. As well as his others. I like fully getting a grasp and opinion and final say on an album before I move on though.

I've only heard Man Vs Machine... was bumping it today actually! I love Xzibit's flow and the "grit" in it and he just seems so real and yet progressive.

Sorry, i havent listened to the first album yet but just needed an excuse to say i love X :sweating:

Xzibit's first 2 albums were underrated gems though less features woulda been better.
I love banging ATSOL with the heavy drums and guitar strumming under Xzibit's lyrics. Class :smoking:

X is definitely one of my all time favorites, Restless was an awesome album but my favorite gotta be his second album which if I remember correctly named "40 Dayz and 40 Nights"

He's a good artist and should have been signed to a big label that appreciate him and could take good care of him.

P.S. Get Your Walk On & Front 2 Back used to be my jams

Yeah he's pretty versatile. Only thing that never changes much is his tone but he can pretty much rap about any topic like Em, and make it work.

And he's especially good at creating hugely bouncy, 'big' and yet gritty authentic shit. Like "Get Your Walk" on, and "X" of course.

I'm gonna be 19 in 2 weeks :sweating:

I grew up around a lot of older kids lol

Was gonna say, kinda young to catch Xzibit when he came out uh.

I started listening to hip-hop when I was like 9. It was Em that got me into it, but was automatically aware of Dre, Xzibit etc. as a result. Due to The Chronic 2001 etc.

Then I've slowly expanded from there. I didn't even move on from Em until Kanye came along I think lmao. I knew of other hip-hop and I listened to grime a lot but around the time Em was bowing out was around the time Ye was coming up, so was a natural transition.

I clutch onto artists too and follow them one or a few at a time. In recent years I more so follow the genre, or, some of it but, don't know how so many can follow so much at once. Fuck listening to the odd song here and there from somebody as...

I don't want one doughnut I want the whole fucking box. And if the doughnut is stale get it out of my fucking face in the first place. :smoking:
