The wolf is there to show us that the eminem walking that road is not a real person, but is a literal interpretation of him looking back on his life. Normally people would run or at least react to seeing a wolf when you're alone at night, he doesn't react so that is out first clue that something is off. People are so confused by this video because they "dont get it", that's the thing about art in any form, it means whatever you want it to mean to you. There are many ways to look at this video and it makes you think, so in my opinion it is successful. The visuals and special effects are superb as well.

Not saying I believe it is a metaphor for drugs, but some things do line up. Here's what I thought:

-The drugs were there when he was at his lowest point, alone, (loss of Proof). That is when he seriously started abusing them and started to get fucked off them.

-The girl picks him up when he is alone.

-He realizes slowly that he is addicted to drugs, and they can kill him.

-He sees signs and slowly realizes that the girl is dangerous and can hurt him. (Used hurt instead of kill to go with the relationship thing, but you get the idea.)

-Drugs killed him, but really, can you blame it on the drugs? Nope, drug woman disappears and Em is the one at fault, because really its not the drugs, it was him abusing the drugs. His fault, so he holds the gun.

-(kind of a stretch) Coffee cup overflowing, drug overdosing.

-He gets a second chance in life. Undoubtedly he is going to run into the drugs, alcohol, and heroin again, so drug lady returns. He will be placed in the same situation of pressure, and now, it is up to him to decide what he wants to do in round two.
