Big Sean's 25 Fav Albums: The SSLP (#5) & The MMLP (#10)

Postby nandish » Jun 22nd, '11, 13:23

Rapper Big Sean reveals his 25 Favorite Albums: He places The Slim Shady LP at #5 & The Marshall Mathers LP at #10.

On The SSLP, he says : "I was like, 'Oh my god, I can't believe this fool is from Detroit.' I wanted to rap just like him. His syllable game was just incredible & he's responsible for a lot of the style I have now. His sense of lyricism is just on point."

http://www.complex.com/music/2011/06/big-seans-25-favorite-albums/#22

On The MMLP he says: "Shit was banging for the same reasons I like the The Slim Shady LP. It’s a great follow-up album. Nothing really changed. Same good ass story telling, same good ass lyricism, same shit. [On that album] he was a little more in the public. You saw him going through the stress of being a star on the The Marshall Mathers LP because he was famous while he was making it."

What do you guys have to say??

Heres what I think of his list

25. Teflon Don...Terrible choice, its a decent album, but c`mon? Top 25..nah
24. Guerrilla Warfare...Never heard it...will now that I know of it tho
23. Harlem World...Never heard it...I dont like Mase tho and I doubt its some classic material
22. Like Water For Chocolate...Decent choice...first one that I can respect
21. The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill...Again I respect this one...it wouldnt make my top 50...but still its a nice album
20. Song About Jane...I only heard few singles from it like Harder to Breathe and Sunday Morning so I cant judge...
19. The Chronic...What can you say...great choice...it is a genre classic
18. Can I Barrow A Dollar...Again great choice...didnt expect to see it here but its a hell of an album...especially when you know that its from early 90s
17. Doggystyle...Again its safe choice...you cant go wrong with it...it effected the genre,it was groundbreaking...I`m not a huge fan of it but still...choice is :y:
16. 400 Degreez...No,no and no...I would never put it
15. Graduation...A Kanye album......wasnt expecting it...idk, it would be much better if he put Late Registration on the list...I prefer it
14. The Carter...LOL`D
13. Late Registration...lol he did put...now this is the Kanye that I can see in top 25
12. Illmatic...respectable choice, album that almost every hip hop fan appreciate and respects...
11. Life After Death...meh imo..never was a huge fan of Biggie...but I can understand why its on the list
10. MMLP...haha...great choice,and lets be real,its should be #1
9. All Eyez On Me...again, meh, like with Biggie, but Ima huge fan of Pac and still I wouldnt put it in top 10, it honestly isnt top 10 material and these albums are kinda cliche
8. Ready To Die... No,no and no
7. No Way Out...again I hate it,I only listened to this once...like a year ago and it sucked...
6. The Blueprint...honestly I was waiting for a Jigga album...at least he chose a decent one.
5. SSLP...now this is what I respect, most of them would say TES, but this dude gave SSLP the place it deserves
4. Hard Knock Life vol.2... no,wtf is this?
3. The Collage Dropout... huge fan of the album...but what is this doing here? 3rd best album ever? WHAAAT?
2. Off The Wall...not a huge fan...but still respect.. most people would say either Thriller or Bad
1. Thriller...oh yeah here it is...smh

I dont know why I just did this...I`m bored...but all in all...list sucks...few decent/great choices...others are either really bad or cliche...

Anyway im interested in hearing this kids album next week cuz some of his mixtapes are pretty good. Wish em could have signed this guy since hes from detroit.

yeah and chronic is #19 while R2D is #8 ...Chronic is more of a groundbreaking the R2D...and I wrote it as it went by...if he put R2D somewhere around # 20 I would have said the same thing I did about the chronic...but the list became such a huge cliche its not even funny...I mean those albums are always in top 10s 20s 25s...and lets face it...they actually suck..80% of his list sucks,imo...so guys dont get but hurt...IMO TBH...

Me neither. And Big Sean, wasn't he the one that did a freestyle to We Made You? I like his style, not feeling some of the picks on his list, but good story regardless.
