I don't 'trust reviews'. I'm taking everything into account. I form my own opinion thanks, but if we're talking whether an album is considered a classic or not, YES, critical reaction certainly does matter at large.

Critical reaction is PART of it. Some gave MMLP 1.5 but it still had an overwhelmingly ecstatically positive reaction for the most part. Plus the ones who gave it a hugely low rating like that did so because they confused the themes and thought Eminem was homophobic, so that's a total bias based on a misunderstanding of intent. Not a low rating of the execution.

And the ones who liked it called it a masterpiece and groundbreaking etc. And this is typical of a classic album. DIC did not get anywhere near this reaction even from those who loved it.

And you separate critics and public as if critics aren't humans. It's all part of it. And the PUBLIC reception to Death Is Certain was not that of a classic album either, that's my point. It's not about critical reaction alone, it's about:

- Critical reaction (but more importantly, the kind of critical reaction)
- Public reception
- Impact and longevity

These sorts of factors. And on all fronts, DIC doesn't score a 'classic' rating. It just scores a 'good' rating'. It's a solid, but unexceptional album and certainly not considered a hip-hop classic by 'most hip-hop fans' or hip-hop at large.

If you consider it a classic, fine. I've not once said nobody can't personally consider an album a classic. But you can't argue it's 'considered' a hip-hop classic by 'most' hip-hop fans, or the hip-hop or music community at large. As that's simply not true.
