Are the freestyles real?

Postby Blu » Jul 1st, '11, 00:01

This is mainly about Eminem's recent freestyles, like for instance, Despicable, I believe I read somewhere that this was scripted.. and same with I'm Having a Relapse.

And since we're on the subject, does anyone know if the freestyles from 8 Mile were real? I read somewhere that the director found the best battle rappers in Detroit but I'm wondering if all the battles and stuff were real, like Em didn't already think of his lines prior to the battle, like in his trailer or something.

Do you guys think that maybe Em's losing his freestyling abilities? It would seem so, he didn't even freestyle on the live chat with Royce. :(

They're all written verses. Read Em's book 'Angry Blonde' and he clearly states this. He says something along the lines of people don't want to hear "mouse" and "house" being rhymed, so he prepares something ahead of time.

Of course they're writtens, you can tell the difference between a written & a off the top freestyle easily.

This was off the top:

Despicable, I'm Having A Relapse, Chemical Warfare, Rap City 09 BET Cypher 09 & both Westwood freestyles were all written. Hell he probably got in contact with Westwood beforehand & they discussed what beats they would play. For all we know he had practice sessions before the show went on the air to make sure everything was done right. Even his old school Rap City & Westwood freestyles were writtens. You can tell somethings written by how he knows exactly what he's saying & has perfect flow on it like he was recording a verse.

Never thought the Despicable one was really a freestyle, that shit is too perfect. The Tim Westwood one is different, there I was always doubtful.

Eminem has ALWAYS written down his freestyles, and i'm pretty sure all those on 8 mile are no exception. One give-away is the rate at which he uses the same lines often! That said, i dont he knows the beat beforehand like someone suggested, he's pretty on point in that department.

But, he still can actually "freestyle" because even during his battle days or on the "any word" freestyles he'd improvise through personalizing the lines and adding one or two effects.

.

Irony. He says in that hates when rappers say they die hard like bruce willis.

"In other words, I'm saying I die HARD!"

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake
