Lil Wayne Tells Producers To Step Their Game Up For "Tha Carter IV” Submissions
Weezy isn't satisfied with the beats supplied to him for his oft-delayed album.
Lil Wayne is still assembling his upcoming album Tha Carter IV, releasing on August 29th. But he’s having trouble finding worthy instrumentals. Speaking with XXL Magazine, the Young Money captain explained that he’s been getting subpar beats and that producers need to hone their craft.
“These niggas’ beats been sucking. I’m putting it out there: you producing, what ya’ll doing? Get right, man. Step it up,” he said. ‘This is coming from a rapper. One of the best rappers. I ain’t saying I’m the best no more, because these niggas is too good these days. I got old. But damn, y’all niggas’ beats is terrible! [Chad Ochocinco walks into the room] These niggas’ beats sound like Ochocino made them.”
OK. I'm done defending Wayne. I love C1, C2, and a lot of C3. He killed it on No Love. IANAHB was aight. He's officially wack to me now. Hasn't had 1 killer verse in over a year. John and How To Love may be the shittiest consecutively released singles by a super-popular rapper, ever. And to be clear, I really like sining tracks, How To Love just blew.
"I got old."
THE HELLLL? Weezy, you're 28. When Em was 29, he made MMLP. When Kanye was 28, he made Late Registration. Get out of here.
Producers ain't giving you beats? Maybe because they don't want em ruined. Kanye makes/gets dope beats. Jay gets dope beats. Em gets dope beats. Drake gets dope beats. Hell, Lil B and Soulja Boy get dope beats.
Wayne's already said he's gonna retire after C4, IMO now that he's sober, he's realized his latest stuff's been trash. He simply can't come like he did on tracks like Hustler Muzik or Shoot Me Down.
Adios Wayne, you were one of my favorite rappers, I honestly don't know if anyone has fallen off this hard.
