Well nothing in that article was tha dumb. He never said record companies shouldn't stop the illegal downloading of their music, he said it makes them look hypocritical.

How? Giving an artist a bad contract isn't stealing. It's in B&W. That's life. I'm not saying it's nice, but they're operating within the law.
