Did I say that people liked them because they're crazy? No, I said people found out about them cause they're crazy. Let's say 5% of people who heard them decided to become a fan, without their gimmick few people had heard them so few people were fans. Then they pull out their gimmicky bullshit and let's say 1 million people heard them, woah, that's 50,000 fans. That's a lot.

He isn't about crazy rhymes and punchlines, this forum is seriously so backward that they can olny accept one kind of dope rapping :facepalm

It's like people don't consider that these guys are musicians who merely use rapping as a tool. Tyler knows he isn't an insane technical rapper, he's said it over and over.

I agree that's partly why he blew up. OF fans are largely composed of punk 14 year old pussys and piss me off for the most part, but Tyler does shit musically that is very sick.

I think the dude is very creative and has a lot of potential to make some cutting-edge music... if he can channel his creativity in the right direction. I bought into the whole rebellious, shock factor that he displayed on Yonkers, without giving much of a fuck that he isn't a technically great rapper (to me his music ain't really rap anyway). And I really enjoy the EARL album by his bro which made me buy even more into Odd Future. But I think Goblin was poorly executed, it's like he was going for a completely revolutionary, unique sound and reminded me of what Kanye managed to achieve on MBDTF, but unfortunately it didn't work out. However he is only 20 and like I said, he does have a lot of creativity and potential, with plenty of time to grow as an artist.

Who the fuck cares how they get fans. Tyler can suck donkey dick in front of Kobe's house for all I care.

He makes damn good music, and I'm happy I finally found out about him.

No, Kid Cudi is impressive musically, Grieves is impressive musically, Tyler just made disturbing videos that became cool to watch. As a rapper, he's garbage.

lol I never even see one of his videos lol (I know you weren't saying that to me class)

Why can't you just admit he isn't your style, instead of calling him trash? Cause he isn't trash, maybe a weirdo but he can rap decent

Because he is my style, and even if he wasn't, I can still admit an emcee is talented if I don't personally like their style. I love horrorcore but Tyler is garbage, without a doubt.

I'll accept that

Maybe that's the reason why I enjoy him, cause honestly I'm not a fan of horrorcore. I just love his choice of beats, and his quirky little....quirks lol

I'm still weary about listening to Goblin, I'm fraid its going to ruin him for me. I'm just sticking with Bastard for now, if it ages well with me maybe ill venture out.

You are going to fucking love goblin, Dont worry ! .. its great and @ Class

Some publications (and retarded Rap Genius contributors) have called Odd Future horrorcore revivalists. Tyler doesn’t like that label (or rather, doesn’t like being labelled), and claims that you should listen carefully to the music yourself (and read RapGenius) to see what Odd Future is really about

“Horrorcore” is a made up subgenre of rap music for people with the need to label fantastical rap about dark subjects (rape, murder, violence, etc.) so that they can feel more comfortable listening to it

Other well known and influential albums branded as “horrorcore” are 6 Feet Deep by the Gravediggaz and, more relevant to OF, Eminem’s Relapse
