Anyone Else Miss The Old Shady Sound?

Not his voice but the beats that used to be used regularly amongst the Shady Camp. Dunno how to explain it properly but there was a time when you heard a beat and could straight away say.. yep, thats an Eminem beat :)

I miss Em working with Dre, which I guess means I miss the old beats. I get branching out and all that, but I still miss it.

Yeah the beats from Recovery and HTS are kinda lame.. I just don't like the new beats. Production is horrible off the last 2 projects.

HTS production horrible?

You are literally the first person to ever say that. Which must mean that you are stupid when also taking in the fact that you think Crooked is better than Joe Budden when you have only heard Mood Muzik 4 from Joe.

Don't get me wrong, I loved this sound, it used to remind me of a twisted circus/carnival full of anger and clown molestation, but I honestly would have gotten bored by Eminem even faster if he had continued the same old production style from his prime into the next decade. Somehow, even though Lello is right about the production being somewhat in the same light of his old work, I'm glad that Relapse turned out as different from his previous albums as it did. I think it was Menzo that said redundancy is the biggest fault holding back certain artists in hip-hop, and I fully agree with that.

The production on Hell The Sequel also banged like clown molestation. Basically what I'm saying is this sound is nostalgic, but I'm not dying to have it back because it eventually gets to the point where instrumentals start sounding like they're following a formula. However, I would rather have him producing his own music and evolving as a producer than letting those clowns from Recovery behind the boards again.

Nope, not missing it. Beats are getting overestimated. Or at least me isn't giving it that big importance. You can ruin a certain kind of beat; you can have dope tracks with just decent beats.

Most definitely. Em doesn't have that signature sound anymore. From Not Afraid to A kiss to LTWYL and Fly Away (I know it's a leak but it's recent). Back in the day, even on collabs, the beats just had that feel to them or.....magic touch to them as you said that pretty much spelled Eminem (What the beat, Off the wall, Stir Crazy, Bitch please 2)
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

Or, if you're sla, you can pretend you know something on a beat when you really don't know shit from apple butter.

Beats that were Eminem would be most of the beats on MMLP...I thought Em produced those beats when really Dre did..That's how much of a signature touch the beats had back then..Dre knew what Slim Shady was..Now you just get random retards wanting to leech a few mil off Recovery and HTS just by sending in some random beats they made in 30 minutes on FL Studio.

I'm no surprised that Em turned most of them down.

Even if somebody reused an epic riff..Who cares?..Use it anyway as long as it sounds good and different to the original..I mean, holy shit, don't people know what sounds good anymore?
Fuck off.
Most Eminem beats were fucking epic compared to the other producers Em worked with.
Mr. Porter is another example of an epic producer..Don't forget Havoc also, he did well on Welcome 2 Hell...Which surprises me because he was an extensive drum 'n' bass producer.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though hip-hop is maturing and changing, which is a good thing, sadly trends will be trends and people just don't care about a good beat anymore and just chuck random riffs together..
It's a load of bull cum and I won't stand for it..Bring back good beats!
