Not at all. He just switched his style up again. Just listen to Lose Yourself, there's no way his delivery was restrained. Didn't Proof also say that TES was practically a near sober album as Em was getting clean?

He recorded Lose Yourself at the same time he recorded TES, on the set of 8 Mile. And (I think) most of 8 Mile was shot in 2001 (the film was actually meant to be released in June 2002 but got pushed back...probably due to The Eminem Show's release).

So there you go. As EminemInsider said, the decline started in 2002.

I always thought Lose Yourself was recorded in 2002. I knew it was written on the set of 8 Mile, so that's why I assumed it was in 2002.

Yeah it makes sense to say his decline started in 2002, but he was still writing to a decent standard during 2002-2003. I'm mainly referring to the diss tracks he wrote at the time and the release of the Straight From The Lab EP. None of that material was really weak lyrically per say. 2004 was when it was really evident the drugs were affecting his writing.

No Apologies is definitely in my top five Em songs. It's so amazing. If it would have been on TES instead of Drips, that would have been incredible. TES is still wonderful, though. Drips is just the weakest song, IMO. No Apologies could have made the album even better.

Breh, it always looked good as a final track..

It wouldn't have been a good closing song for the album, besides, Em always has sort of an...."upbeat" type of track to close his albums.

For some reason I want to say I heard before that the first two verses were from previously used material and then the third verse was written when he made the track.. And the track didn't necessarily have to be made that early, right? Only the lyrics or verses he used were written then, he may have recorded No Apologies anytime from 2001-Re-Up
