eminem show is eminem most complex album lyrically

Postby makaveli21 » Jul 24th, '11, 18:19

Soon as a verse starts I eat it at MC’s heart
what is he thinking? How not to go against me? Smart.
And its absurd how people hang on every word
I’ll probably never get the props I feel I ever deserve
But I’ll never be served my spot is forever reserved
If I ever leave earth that would be the death of me first
Cause in my heart of hearts I know nothing could ever be worse .
That’s why I’m clever when I put together every verse
My thoughts are sporadic, I act like I’m an addict I rap like I’m addicted to smack like I’m Kim Mathers.
But I don’t want to go forth and back in constant battles
The fact is I would rather sit back and bomb some rappers.
So this is like a full blown attack I’m launching at them
The track is on some battling raps who want some static
Cause I don’t really think that the fact that I’m Slim matters
A plaque of platinum status is whack if I'm not the baddest .

I feel that any verse from the Relapse horrorcore songs are more complex than what the OP posted... and most of TES for that matter.

This album is a classic without a doubt but if your judging on complexity
MMLP wins

MMLP, SSLP, and Relapse are all more lyrically complex, by far...but TES is still the best album to me.

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

You fucked up on the rhyme scheme highlighting. "Never get the props" and "served my spot" have nothing to do with each other.

However, "never get the props" and "spot is forever" is an inverse multi...and I just noticed that now that you posted this.

"Ever deserve" goes with "never be served."

You forgot to bold "platinum status," which goes with the rhyme scheme.

Also, there's "go forth and back" and "full blown attack."

Honestly, I don't know why so many people on this board are incompetent when it comes to highlighting rhymes. Even worse is morons in this thread saying the verse isn't complex. :facepalm

Almost every song on that album has an awesome rhyme scheme, Drips' rhyme scheme is also incredible, people should study that song and quit bitching about it being a comedy track, too serious bitches.

This.
Drips gets way too much hate on this site for no reason.

I'm saying it's not complex when you compare it to the rest of the album.

White America:

Who would of thought, standing in this mirror bleachin' my hair, with some peroxide,
Reaching for a t-shirt to wear, that I would catapult to the forefront of rap like this,
How could I predict my words would have an impact like this, I must've struck a chord,
with somebody up in the office, cause congress keeps telling me I ain't causin' nuthin' but problems,
And now they're sayin' I'm in trouble with the government, I'm lovin' it, I shoveled shit all my life,
And now I'm dumping it on...

And that's one example.

Check out Soldier. That song is nuts with rhymes and I can't be bothered to highlight them all. Just listen to it.

Why did you color "mirror" and "for a" in blue? Those don't rhyme.

Why did you bold "of" and "im?" Those don't rhyme, and they're not non-stressed syllables in the middle of a multi.

And why italicize "the," "cause," and "but?" That's just looking for shit that isn't there. Utterly irrelevant words not intended to be part of any rhyme scheme.

:o :o

TES is Eminem's most complex album lyrically. It's flawless. Some of the schemes are absolutely ridiculous. All you need to do is take a listen to White America, Cleaning Out My Closet, SIng For The Moment, Business, Till I Collapse, Soldier, Square Dance... you know what? The whole album. The album was written when Eminem was in one hell of a zone. SSLP and MMLP are both incredible lyrically, whoever says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about. But in terms of complexity, I'd give it to TES.

There's no way Relapse is "by far" more complex than The Eminem Show. Granted Relapse showcases fantastic rhyming but it's not on the The Eminem Show's level. Not to mention how the accent in Relapse assists the rhyming in quite a few songs.
