Eminem sets attendance record

Most people had come for one reason - to see one of the most popular rappers on the planet. Attendance topped 38,000, making this by far the biggest single-day crowd for Osheaga, ever. Yes, bigger than Coldplay.

He was in and out in 90 minutes, but Eminem washed over Osheaga like a hip-hop tidal wave.

Anyone else notice how in the beginning of COMC Em added "fuck you dad" to the usual "fuck you momma"? I like it. Dunno what prompted it, but I like it.

Spacebound was freaking awesome, I'm just sad he left out the third verse...

And from the videos I've watched so far, it seems like Em didn't have a backing track at all. He was amazing.

Oh, and:

He said to the 75,000 strong crowd "Make some noise for Nate Dogg y'all" and even dropped a section of the track 'The Next Episode', which features the rapper on vocals alongside Dr. Dre. He also paid a visual tribute to Nate Dogg on the projection screen behind his stage set up.

I was there Friday night and honestly, I never realized how massively popular Eminem is in Canada (I don't think he knew how popular he was here either!). I traveled 6 hours to see him and from what I gathered, I wasn't the only one, other people traveled across provinces just to see him. I came an hour before the park actually opened, so I was fortunate enough to be in the first row. I saw everything clearly, I have some videos too which I will upload when I can.

The majority of the crowd were wearing Eminem tees. It was so obvious everyone was there only to see the king himself. When 6 o'clock came (he wasn't due to perform until 9:20), the crowd were already chanting "SHADY!" It was hilarious, the crowd were chanting his name while other performers (like Janelle Monae) were performing.

So after waiting for him for over 6 hours (it rained for a bit), he finally hit the stage. The crowd was CRAZY and so loud! Em was like "What the hell is going on MONTREAL, y'all are so fucking loud!" and even said that we were one of the loudest crowd he's ever performed to, at the end of the show.

It was bananas, definitely worth the 6 hour travel and the 6 hour waiting. I would do it again. I'm so happy he performed Till I Collapse! And I didn't hear any backtracks! I went shopping the next day, and a handle full of people were wearing Eminem tees at the mall.

He's a comfortable performer now, i just wish he'd turn the playback off and trust his voice. Nobody would care if he messed up - that's a live show. If we wanted to listen to the CD we wouldn't pay 150 quid to stand in a field and do it...
