BME interview Lollapalooza 2011

Postby doris » Aug 4th, '11, 18:18

I'm sorry if I posted this in wrong thread or if someone posted it already.
Nothing new really, but I don't think I ever read it and it's recent, so...
The interview is in Time Out Chicago newspaper.

After all the Rolling Stone covers, the Grammy awards, the Oscar, a 60 Minutes interview and the most successful 2000s of any pop star, it’s difficult to imagine Eminem as a hungry kid in Detroit, hustling his demo. Well, unless you watch 8 Mile. But what often goes overlooked in the story of Marshall Mathers is that he had a group before he was plucked from obscurity by Dr. Dre. Mathers formed Bad Meets Evil with a fellow son of Detroit, Ryan “Royce da 5'9" ” Montgomery, in 1997. You can probably guess which one is “Evil.” The duo had been on ice until the recent release of an EP, Hell: The Sequel. I chatted with the two old friends over the phone. [...]

Evil said:
Okay, I walked into that one. Do you want to do a full album?
Eminem You talking about a full album of Bad meets Evil? I certainly wouldn’t rule it out in the future, but I think the focus right now is on Slaughterhouse. Slaughterhouse is the group Royce is in.

That's cool. (and i appreciate it..)

Yeah, they ask the same questions, then Em can't remember anything and Royce gives the same answers. It's kinda depressing :(

I laughed at this part:

Is it harder or easier to work a crowd that big?
Royce Well, you can’t put Em anywhere but a festival, unless you’re going to put him in an arena. So he’s kind of stuck doing those shows. It’s fun for me. That Bonnaroo crowd, that was a 90,000 people crowd.
Eminem It’s crazy to look out there and see that many fucking people. It’s nuts, man.

Do you have the urge to jump in?
Eminem I stopped jumping in the crowd a few years ago, when I jumped in the crowd and came up almost butt naked. I thought, you know what, I’m probably [not going to] do this much anymore.

True. You’re probably going to be missing skin and fingers if you ever tried that now.
Eminem Oh yeah, I was cut the fuck up.

I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.
