I sound pretentious describing it tbh (inb4 DA) but I think it's the best one.

That said, i'm talkin about the art, not the album itself.

I've never seen the album booklet :(

Em actually drew the cover to The Re-Up, just a fun fact for those who didn't know.

One thing that i noted that "The Eminem Show" portrayed him sitting in between the veil of curtains and "Encore" was like he came out did his thing and bowed away in the darkness which is also the tone of the cover ,i sound too corny but yeah ! .

A tie between Eminem Show and Recovery.

1.) The Eminem Show has that red color to it, its heroic, depressing in its darkest tones (You can hear it on Sing for the Moment imo) then it has a the light side to things. It has him on display for the whole world to view as entertainment. It is putting out the fact that ANYTHING at that time was entertaining and news. It also has that sense that he can't escape the fate he is presented with because, i feel, he is thinking of a way out. I also think that he is thinking about the depressing parts of his life in a sort of reflection to that point, I say it is depressing by his dark clothing and dark background (representing the past). The lighter red of the stage represents the time of life he was in, a somewhat better state but not yet COMPLETE happiness. It is surrounding the dark of his life and suppressing it but it just doesn't seem to stop bothering him. Then, there is more symbolism with the black back, it is exposed and it is another representation of him putting himself and his story on display and he, just like in the cover is in the middle of it all.

2.) Recovery's first cover, it's deep, it is showing him walking down a road away from Detroit, his hometown basically. It shows his back to Detroit, representing all the sadness and pain along with the happiness he has had there. The birth of his daughter, the marriages and divorces of Kim, his mother, the death of Proof, his drug habit's beginning, it's ending, and many other examples. It shows him leaving it behind, leaving slowly (walking) because he doesn't want to leave, he loves it, but he knows it is the right choice to achieve happiness, leaving it all behind him and moving on, and he is all alone on this road symbolizing the sort of tribulation he is going through, leaving where he is from he knows he is giving it up and no one is going to accompany him, and no one is going to meet him. He is going out into the world with completely nothing to make a reputation in the world and, maybe, come back stronger and happier with the the world with him (just a thought but, i don't think so) But it basically symbolizes him going to make friends with the world and be welcomed, he is changing, growing up.

That is the reason for my choice

All of The Above, minus Infinite. Boring, and plain. He claims to be a good drawer, yet he couldn't even draw a good fucking cover for that? Lame

What do you guys think Em should do about his next album to make it a classic? Obviously we kniw he needs more consistent production but color wise what are you guys looking for?

Should it be something drastically different than Recovery's "breezy colors"?

I was kind of looking for an album fully produced by Primo(like Dre for Relapse) where instead of a cover that shows a bunch of pills making up his face..... mosaic/graffiti artwork of his face that symbolizes Primo's old school connections and Em's "response" to people that claim that he isnt a "great emcee" anymore. When i think about an album like this.....a silver background comes to mind.

Oh, I like the MMLP one with him in front of his house way more than that alternate version. It isn't the same vibe...I feel like (for his first 4 albums) that a song always corresponded with the cover.

SSLP - '97 Bonnie & Clydge
MMLP - The Way I Am
TES - Sing For The Moment
Encore - :-k Not sure...Like Toy Soldiers?

The first time I heard Marshall Mathers (a snippet of it), there was a picture of MMLP's cover; so I always correlate the two. :y:

Best to worst. I prefer simple iconic design instead amateurish over-decoration, so obviously, Relapse and SSLP are last for me.

You guys are just trying to sound deep, or clever. You know how certain nouns that come up in conversations often remind someone partaking in the conversation of the same noun that occurs in the telling of the story they tell next that the conversation makes the transition to?

All of our thoughts are linked. If you are drinking Dr. Pepper as a kid and you see your babysitter naked, Dr. Pepper might just give you a boner.

With Eminem's songs, there are SO many variables that could determine what color each song reminds you of based on your own subjective experiences consisting of millions of things through life. I particularly hate how people are like "Yeah! I feel that way too about that CD!" When in most cases it's bullshit.

You're just picking colors that you've been told correspond with certain emotions and applying them to Eminem songs to sound deep. Now, not all of you are like this. Menzo made a great thread about it, but since that thread, everyone thinks THEY are the ones who sense colors with each song.

If Eminem read these threads, he'd be like .. "Wow.. I can't believe how much they're analyzing my music. I really have a lot of diehard fans." I don't think he intended for any of his work to be associated with a certain color at all.

Fuck, any lyric in one of the songs that stands out to you could correspond with a memory you have in your head related to said word, and what color you were surrounded by that day. Too many variables, no right answers, you guys aren't smart.. Menzo had an interesting thread when he spoke about associating music with colors, but the rest of you never mentioned a word about it until you were sure it was OK to discuss since Menzo had the balls to break the ice, and the rest of you just think it's a cool concept and you're pretending you've always thought like this too, meanwhile you're basing your answers on what you've thought up and guessed right here on the spot, with no prior history of applying colors to these songs, combined with the collective amount of answers you're reading from others so you can agree on it with them and fool each other into believing you're as smart as each other, when none of you are smart to begin with!

Fucking humanity, I swear to god. Everyone is just so fucking stupid. Sponges.. sponge up everything and follow your shepherds you sheep. To the shepherds, keep on slayen' em threads!
