Anyone ever notice this?

Back in the day, when the skill Eminem was portraying was declining, he made the impression that THAT was when he had quit the drugs.

Look at the Encore era:

"A couple of cocktails, will send me to jail.".. While not exactly admitting to refraining from ethanol here..

How about the Re-Up era?

"I may be off drugs, but it's made me off track."

Tupac: Loyal to the game:

"It ain't scotch, it's not bourbon" "That ain't you, you just burpin."

He LIED!!!

(Although I would have done the same thing.. you know how probation goes when you're not allowed to take any drugs. Admit it publicly and possibly go to jail? Fuck that. But yeah.. he lied.)

We As Americans was actually released in 2003. I wouldn't class it a song from the Encore era. It's actually a very well written song (particularly the first verse) which is something you can't say for the vast majority of songs he released post 2003. But on topic, I think you do have a point but he always knew the drugs were having an effect on his writing. He admits that today so I'm sure he was aware of that during that phase.

During probation he actually was mostly off drugs. after it ended he admitted he had snuck drinks and stuff, but he was sober most of the time.
