This 2010 performance is better.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

I'm not seeing what so great about these performances. He's just bouncing side to side and waving his towel. He also appears to be lip syncing and not covering it very well. I personally like sober Eminem. He has more energy and emotion. Whatever Eminem has had to do to become and stay sober I support it. If that means he doesn't perform or rap the way he used to so be it. It's not like he's completely lost it and is just awful now.

The only thing I miss about his old performances is the hype man.

But thanks for posting these, I'd never seen them before.

In all honesty that was one of the best Lose Yourself performances of his life.

IMO, this is the obvious case were the people decided to idealize the past and they can't see any mistakes he made. Which is funny because back in the day when these 2002 performances were new, people used to complain about them the same way they complain about his recent performances, saying they miss 1999 Eminem so much. In other words, he won't please some people with his recent stuff unless he dies unexpectedly. Then I'm sure we would see the biggest hypocrisy in the showbiz since MJ's death.

Well said. That actually changed my mind a bit as far as his performances are concerned. We need to move on that and that's the key.

No they wouldn't, stop waxing superior. People criticise his current performances for a reason, not due to some kind of misguided nostalgia.

Personally, I think his old performances were much better. He looked like he had a story to tell you; he could be calm and bop slowly with the beat and then let loose and go crazy. The way he would lean towards the crowd and use his right hand to mime in time with the music was captivating; almost mesmerising. He seems to unleash a lot of (sober) energy in his most recent performances, but at the same time they lack an appealing routine. The way he points and holds his chest looks quite cheesy (and I'd say it definitely falls into the mainsteam category) and Mr Porter is a terrible Hype Man; he looks like Em's fat, black uncle who's come on stage with him to support his nephew. He definitely lacks the energy that Proof had (obviously not many will compare to proof) and thus lacks the ability to propel Em's raps to the old back-and-forth show that he and Proof would put on. You knew when Proof went on stage with Em that there was a close connection; they would joke and vibe together, but at the same time you felt as though Proof was an equal. He'd even change the lyrics for a joke: in one of Em's early London performances, he says 'you don't, wanna have sex with Shady' when they perform Kill You and then you hear him laugh. It's not professional, but it is enticing, and let's the crowd relate more to the performers.
"Oh, he'll give us what we need.
It may not be what we want."

I don't think Em's EVER rapped/sung the choruses of his songs. He just lip-synches along to it so he has something to do during them.
