stringing multies, imitating a drum pattern and touching on EMO like concepts is not lyrical to me.

Drake is not a lyricist by any means,he just makes enjoyable easy to listen too music.

Why would Nas,a very accomplished legend in hip hop sign to Em's label, not saying Nas is bigger or better than Em,but the whole idea of Shady Records is Em mentoring who he signs, why would Nas need mentoring, same with DMX? plus Nas and DMX are a discovered talent, plus they both as old as Em if DMX aint older,i know nas is as old as Em.

They're basically poets, they write good but fail to create music.

another way to put it,i want to listen to music not to poetry.

Every great writer is not a musician, who makes his own music, if that's what you mean.

But rap is also music. So even technically, we can't call a great rap writer a great rapper.

Yeah! There are very fewer Rappers who are all-rounders.

Lets look at Em's record.

he signed,D12,50,Obie,Cashis,stat,Bobby creek,SH,Yelawolf

He got D12 in to the game = mentoring

he got obie in the game = mentoring

he made 50 cent a global fucking franchise = mentoring

he didnt find cashis, creek and stat that good but he was also intending to mentor them

SH = mentoring,he took a newly formed group under his arms and is teaching them how to make music, again, hes mentoring

Yelawolf = mentoring, hes getting him further more in the game

all these artists share one thing, they started young with Em and he was the one TEACHING THEM HOW TO MAKE MUSIC,MAKE MUSIC WITH THEM,ALL AROUND MENTORING THEM.

Nas can prolly teach Em a thing or two bout hip hop,he been in the scene since illmatic, and vice versa, they are very very fucking well established almost 40 year old artists,DMX is very well known too.

the thought of having Nas and DMX on shady records shouldnt even cross your mind, bro

but when it comes all down to it,EM AND NAS NEED TO FUCKING COLLAB.

LOL,if you a fucking dish washing clerk, can you boss over your peer, another dish washing clerk?

same here,Em and Nas are on the same level hip hop wise.

Out of those? EASILY Yelawolf.

Asher Roth is evolving and I said from the very first time I heard him that he had promise but currently wasn't doing anything special. But his debut was mostly unfairly dismissed as a pointless 'weed / college' album when he in fact touches on a lot of intelligent subject-matter.

And then I see complete fodder get praised from already established or up-and-coming black MCs. Not to pull the race card but the critics always mention it and I do believe in this case, it's the case. It's racist bullshit. He's not revolutionary but he deserves a damn better summary than he's got.

As for MGK, he sounds and looks like a cornball to me.

Yelawolf on the other hand is exciting as hell. He has a real knowledge and appreciation of not just hip-hop but many genres. Just music as a whole, and he's also visual. He's very visual and conceptual, I've been waiting a long time for somebody like him to come along.

Yelawolf, easily.

But other than those that you've mentioned, if I was Em - I'd try and sign Redman (Red already said he'd jump over to Shady, and he'd fit perfectly as Em is hugely inspired by him), Hopsin (works in reverse. Hopsin is hugely inspired by Em, so it comes full circle) and Joe Budden as a solo artist. I haven't heard much of Joe but he appears to make mood driven music and his depressive undertones seem like a fit for Em, and Shady.

Oh and Tyler, the Creator, as a solo rapper. I think with Em as a mentor, and more time to grow, and a better environment, he could evolve into something very very special.
