Will his next album have a "funny" single?

Postby RainMan44 » Nov 15th, '11, 06:32

Much like "My Name Is," "The Real Slim Shady," "Without Me," "We Made You," etc.
"This dude doing this interview wants me to spin a few,
Lyrics while I tie my tennis shoes in the nude
A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

Maybe he will, maybe he won't. I'd rather he didn't, personally. Not Afraid was a breath of fresh air. The never ending string of funny first singles has run its course, IMO.

would be nice if he returned to classic formula

Here's the thing, every Slim Shady album has had a jokey single, and I see Recovery as a Marshall Mathers album with Eminem elements (Won't Back Down, Almost Famous, you know) and Shady bits at times (Cold Wind Blows, WTP, So Bad and Ridaz (Yes, it's a bonus, still counts). At least, that's how my perception of it is and with all his albums. Guessing from the cypher, he's reverting back to Shady. Now, if this is true, the next album may be a true return to Shady (Since apparently Relapse doesn't count...) terrorizing the world, and the first single will probably be a jokey track that'll piss everyone off again. This is my thinking.

I like your thinking.

As do I.

:smoking: I can see Em making a single about his fans who are never satisfied, cause that HAS to be pissing him off. Something like mocking them about what they bitch about, like the accents and the shouting. Probably also a reference to the Grammys too.

I see a TWIA II more, cause let's face it, nobody's ever happy with what he drops and I'd be pissed as a motherfucker in his shoes. I think he's RIGHT at his breaking point... one more thing'll get him enraged and I think the feedback from Throw It Up'll do it.

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing, although critics so far have liked Throw It Up...but we'll wait for the official release to see what happens...maybe after the 50/Obie collabs too.

I'd be pissed off too, probably calling the fans ungrateful.

I have a feeling that it'll also be an introspective track as well. The topic now is Em, but it could also be applied to many legends like Dre, Jay-Z, and others. People think they fell off, but maybe the song'll make people think "Wait a minute, why bash an artist because he isn't in his prime anymore?" I know for a fact people would be pissed if he quit now.

Menzo wrote:I definitely would, he's still good despite what the Hip Hop gods of TR proclaim.

Music is art of the soul, and art can be perceived in many ways, with many different opinions. For example, if you saw the Mona Lisa, some would say "So what? It's just a chick." However, some would also say "This speaks volumes, how magnificent!" Point is, we all got views on art and we all got views on music. Opinions are just that, opinions until you act on them.

I could see that. Apart from the fact that I'm not sure it'd be a good idea, since he'd basically be dissing a portion of his fanbase.

What I'd love another "Nobody listens to techno" line. Seriously, it makes be actually sick that the two most popular rap songs of 2011 have been Party Rock Anthem and Give Me Everything, so I'd love if Em dissed this stupid electropop movement they have going on in pop music atm. It would piss off a LOT of people aswell (e.g. Lady Gaga and Pitbull fans), since techno is much more popular now than it was back in 2002.

Does anyone else cringe when fans talk about his "alter-egos" like this? As though he ever consciously thinks, "Okay, this is gonna be an Eminem track. And that will be a SLIM SHADY track. And maybe I'll do a Marshall track at the end of the album."

Amadeo makes a point. I doubt Em was thinking "This'll be a Slim Shady track!!" when he was writing The Way I Am.

I don't think Em thinks like that, neither. I think he simply creates music, and lets the fans choose which personality he's rapping from.

@Sukot: Exactly. :smoking:

@Blu: That's probably true, but that's how I see it. Lol.

@Amadeo: Relax, I'm talking about how I see it, read that paragraph again bud. Lol he may or may not, I'm not Marshall. But that's what my perception on it is. You see different and I respect that.

The Eminem Show was a Marshall Mathers album too, at least for the most part, but it still had Without Me.
