Good goddamn question. I think there's just nobody interesting anymore or talented enough (meaning new artists) :coffee:

Listening to song from a similar Genre can be monotonous at times, the same words may seem good when you're in a peculiar mood and may seem a drag out in another situation. What I do in this situations is shuffle between different Rap Artist and when I'm too much bothered with Rap, I don't listen to Rap altogether. I hate Pop, set aside a few songs, I refrain from it. Rock is an Alt I definitely keep.

I think what you're going through in real life affects you choice in music. If you have a bad day, a gangsta styled song is not gonna relieve you, you need something that is soft in some or the other way.

*name* wrote:I was shuffling through the tracks on my phone .. switching from different rap tracks and shit, guess what came up in the switch? A song from my favorite band "Red Hot Chili Peppers - Around The World", a song that I haven't listen to in ages (Or maybe 2 months, but it feels like ages) and that shit gave me chills, so I start limiting the shuffle to Red Hot Chili Peppers tracks, passing by Snow, Dani California, Look Around, Scar Tissue and a lot of other tracks, and the finale was Under The Bridge.

Listening to whoever rap artists (To not leave any questions the artists I was listening to were Tonedeff, Joe Budden and Lupe Fiasco[inb4flamed]) is less enjoyable than RHCP and tbh any one of my favorite rock bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and shit. C'mon, I remember when my passion for rap was incredible, I used to write and listen, and download an album daily, nowadays I almost fall asleep listening to a rap track, got in a writer's block for 2-3 months and I don't keep up with the album news unless it's really, really interesting. What's changed?

The same thing that happened with you and rap, happened with me and the RHCP (my favorite band). It's not rap getting boring necessarily, it's just you getting bored with confining yourself to one genre. Look at Revolutionary (my nigga) for example, dude is a huge hip hop fan, but lately he's been wanting to check out some other stuff. Happens to all of us.

Have a good alternative in this situation. For example, I listen to a lot of Coldplay and U2 when I get bored of rap music.

^ I just bought yelas album. It wasnt bad, but the lack of his own hooks and the number of features...as well as only having 2-3 songs that stood out for decent concepts, I was very disappointed.

Not to mention he seemed to really tone down his shit which had me

Idk just after listening through I felt like I was listening to encore after the mmlp.

He was raw and then he seemed to tone it down, maybe its just me idk. I was more upset the cd seemed to have no replay value for me, at least through the first listen. throw it up is actually my favorite song and both em and gangsta boos verses were more memorable then most verses by yela on the album :sweating:

Maybe you should check out some '90s Hip-Hop. The overall sound is different to modern rap so it should sound refreshing to you. Not that you haven't checked out anything, but maybe some Das EFX, De La Soul or A Tribe Called Quest.

Other than that, what keeps me entertained is making my own music which is much more fun when you make your own beats and actually record yourself (regardless if the equipment is shitty). That way, when I listen to rap I try to pick up some new intonation patterns for my flow and see how some of the instrumentals are constructed. Look at it like basketball; It's great fun to watch a game but what makes you love the sport even more is you playing it by yourself.

Also, do you have friends in real life who are into Hip-Hop as much as you are? My best friends in high school were basically based on that same passion we shared and it used to be very interesting to do this forum discussions in actuality. Check out that deadendhiphop channel on YouTube and see what I mean :D - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBqr1EM1bDg

Thirdly, how often do you go to Hip-Hop parties and/or shows? Watching other people perform rap and be around so many Hip-Hop heads is always adding fire to my love for the genre and it keeps me excited. B-Real for example, has a show on Sunday and I'm gonna go wild on that one, lol. And watch this clip from Premier's show in here from last year; this got me going for a month - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cccmWp85YEw

I didn't know that you were a fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Californication is one of my favorites albums. You didn't mention my fave song "Other side" Road Trippin is great too.

I got bored with rap really fast..When I was a kid I got myself into metal and electronic music..
It's understandable to want to stretch your creative tastes.
Many artists out there tend to have many side projects or want to change their style.

It's nothing to worry about, it's human nature.

90% of music that I listen is the same music that I started with. This new music is not good if you ask me. Especially rap. I stick with Eminem, Tram 11, Marchelo, Pac... Basically, the late 90`s rap. Wayne, Drake, Nicki, Gucci... :shakehead:
