Em - Most Consecutive No.1 Albums (6)?

Postby EminemBase » Nov 24th, '11, 04:50

I just read Em is the solo artist who holds the record for the most consecutive albums to debut at number one, with six... but Jay-Z has had eight consecutive debuts at number one?

Jay has five, Em has six. Unfinished Business (the album) was with R. Kelly, not Jay's alone, as was Collision Course (with Linkin Park)

How does he have five? I've checked his list of albums...

- Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life (1998)
- Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter (1999)
- The Dynasty: Roc La Familia (2000)
- The Blueprint (2001)
- The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse (2002)
- The Black Album (2003)

Even if you stop there and say his run ended when he made the collaboration albums (which doesn't make sense as his solo run continued anyway), that's SIX?

The 1st R-Kelly collab album came out in '02, and according to Wiki, it actually didn't go to number 1, so they must be counting that...Although every album he's been involed in since then, (7 albums) have all gone to number 1 :confusion:

Unless they count his sales as starting a-fresh after the collab albums, ha it's too confusing

Props to Em though, all 6 of his studio albums hit number 1, very impressive :y:
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

A lot of the links/pics I've posted in the last year or so, if they're dead, there is a probability that I have archived it on Archive.today.

If you need to reach me for any reason, message me on Hip Hop Shelter.

I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

That's how I feel too. Same with Tupac, Biggie, and almost all other rappers who are put at that rank. I respect them greatly for what they have done for hip-hop. But there's so many artists out there, who will most likely never get to that level of recognition, that would steamroll over people like Jay with their eyes closed. I don't get it :coffee:

Now, I get that people like Pac and shit were great for their time. But that's just the thing. So was Slick Rick but I don't see him brought up nearly as much.

I guess it's just the death thing.

I feel like I'm going to get a lot of flame for this, but whatever :b:

I always think of Jay as a worse version of Biggie.
