What does he mean by "fake friends will kill for ya, die for ya?"

To me, real friends would die for you, cause they would do anything for you if they were true friends.

And @ Relapse, I'm pretty sure the "can't decipher why for the life of ya" [in addition to being a kind of play on words with the previous line talking about dying] is actually referencing Em's confusion as to why his friends would kill/die for him. He doesn't get why he's so special that they're willing to do that.


Actually, now that I really think about it, maybe he means that his fake friends are willing to kill or die for him, and his real friends are willing to do even more? Something along those lines, I'm not expressing it very well.

By the way, this makes me think of something. I wish Em would make more real records nowadays. His last one was Beautiful, and although songs on Recovery like Space Bound are deep, & Love The Way You Lie is a great storytelling love song, it doesn't do much for me besides that, as far as meanings in his songs, like a thesis almost. Anybody else feel this way? I wish he would go back to that formula.

I don't think I have any friends that I would give my life for. I mean, I know that's a shitty thing to say. But I think the same goes for most people when it really comes down to it. I mean, your primal core instinct to survive is extremely strong. Your body is designed to survive at all costs. To turn that instinct off for a friend? Not worth it imo

exactly i think of his fake friends as his drug dealers giving him drugs to be famous. Like when he was talking bout that doctor that would call him up and ask him if he wanted pills

I interpreted more along the lines of they say your real friends and that they would "die" for you, but in reality they wouldn't. Thats just me though.
