Prolific Writing

Despite the initially mixed reaction of Relapse and the lukewarm reaction of Recovery... when you actually look at the content on both albums, they house some pretty incredible stuff...

For a mainstream rapper as big as Eminem to put out an album as lyrical and focused as Relapse I think is amazing, no other mainstream rapper is being as lyrical right now.

I think that in a few years people will look back on these few years as a pretty prolific period for his penmanship. Obviously the content isn't as compelling as his best work and there are flaws, but, when you consider songs such as...

- Hello
- Same Song and Dance
- Stay Wide Awake
- Deja Vu
... fuck it basically nearly all of Relapse and then...

- Cold Wind Blows
- Going Through Changes
- Space Bound
- Cinderella Man
- Almost Famous (especially)

A lot of this stuff is out of this fucking world. Some of the writing and focus is sublime.

I know his wit isn't what it once was a lot of the time and some of the puns and attempts to adapt are not great, but overall, there's a lot of classic material here for me.

Yeah I always loved it.

I know opinions change but what bothers me is people who change their opinion depending on what everybody else thinks.

I remember being on like proper hip-hop forums and everybody saying it was crazy and I even remember a few saying how it was like Em's Illmatic lmao.

And then a few people say it's weird or stupid and everyone else goes "yeah, stupid shit".

Lmao. I loved Relapse since it came out.. I admit the serial killer thing was kinda creepy at first but then the vibe, the accent, everything made me love it. Relapse is really a dark album that I see like a movie, i can picture almost any song on it, I make a music video for each one of them in my head.

And I also agree about his writing, I think there's a huge problem with Eminem "old fans", they can't really appreciate his music because they're stuck in the past and nostalgic. Everything he makes now is automatically less good than things he has done in his prime.

Songs like Déjà Vu, Going Through Changes (just to quote these two, because I feel like they are just perfect) could be in his top 10 tracks of all time.

The cynical side in Déjà Vu is just awesome, the way he talks about himself.. Wow. :b:

Finally, it's so good to see someone showing appreciation for the lyrical massacre that goes by the name of Hello. The track is superb.

That's his love for the "Art Of Rap", the passion that he has in him will never compel him to stay away from lyricism. He's like Goku(Too corny but yea), never give up and always remember that you're doing this for the people that love and support you and not only for yourself. This is why he is considered as an Idol by most budding Rappers, his dedication is applause worthy. He never let Fame blind his thoughts and always worked for his Fans that support him till date.Yes, I'm proud to be a Stan of his Music and I fucking love "Relapse & Recovery"

On that note I would say "FUCK KOLLO" :tounge2:

You know, even on Recovery most rappers, underground or mainstream, can't the lyrical ability he displayed. I mean no one has order touched his old work but most, if not all, won't touch what he has now. Maybe Nas and Tech, maybe slaughterhouse and Kendrick Lamar? Oh, let's not forget Elzhi, other than that, Nahhh. And, most artists can't touch his artistic ability, again no one has beat his prime, but even now the only artists that may even be considered close are Yelawolf and Kanye. I guess people just like to bitch.

He's one piece and no one can try to be like him in skills. They can become famous but can never achieve what Eminem has achieved.

Honestly, with all due respect, I could see someone eventually surpassing that. I mean, the guy has many accomplishments that makes it incredible, but I think one day, we could witness something amazing.

Judging where Rap is headed off to, I don't think so.

To be perfectly honest, and this is in no offense to your opinion or anything, but I'm thinking that's some shit. No matter how you chalk it up, music has changed a lot since Em debuted. And what he did with the MMLP is something that I've never seen anyone do before. The whit, the commentary, the balance of sick humor and saddening realism. It's incredible, honestly. I don't see anyone coming around and doing that, and certainly not from the current batch of rappers.

I agree.. but who knows! I mean, there might be that one rapper coming out right now that needs a chance. Once he does, BOOM! I'm just optimistic though. :sweating: I'm not saying he's the next Eminem, I'm saying he could he great too and probably on an equal level if he really strived for it. :y:

I suppose anything is possible, which is why you shouldn't say never. It'd be crazy though, because it'd have to be someone that, at least at that time, didn't give a fuck what anyone thought about him/her.

I could see someone completely not giving a fuck. They'd have to be ballsy and point out everything that's "wrong" with the mainstream nowadays... which would be one hell of a move.
