Eminem refuses place on new J Dilla album

Postby badman56 » Dec 26th, '11, 23:24

According to Jonathon Taylor the CEO of Yancey Music, J Dilla's new album which is called Rebirth of Detroit features a who's who of Detroit rappers, most of them offering their verses for this new Dilla produced album. But he spoke about how hard he and Dilla's mother have tried to convince Eminem to be a part of the album but to no avail

This is all in a new radio interview Jonathon Taylor did on Friday - links here http://conspiracyworldwide.podomatic.co ... 6_08-08_00 and he is about 10 minutes into that part talking about it

why Em wouldnt want to be involved with this chance to work with Dilla I dont know

Another reason to call him a retard when it comes to artists to work with.

J Dilla > Em's favorite producer tbh

Bad beat?
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Word, Dilla's great.

It's not even I have a problem with his current producers, but what could possibly keep him from Dilla?

Maybe Em feels that he doesn't want to over-saturate lately.

As he had an album in 2009, 2010 and the Bad Meets Evil EP in 2011.

And then a ton of features, especially considering what he would usually do...

Maybe he's working on the D12 album or new solo material and wants to create a silence / wait.

Or maybe he just didn't like the idea.

I also fear his integrity has waned though. As, he seems to immediately say yes to anybody now as long as they're big enough in the mainstream. And no to anybody who's too small on the radar.

Or he didn't pay him enough.

Em turned down $6 for one show in Australia.

He also turned down $15 for a movie with 50 Cent.

And he also resisted all commercial offers and licensing for basically a decade.

I think it's pretty obvious he doesn't do things for money.

And he's shockingly rich, I honestly don't think he would give a shit.

^ That's true, but you never know. I doubt he would get on a song for free though.

I think it might be due to Interscope, because I don't think J Dilla is "famous enough" to have a song with Eminem. Then again, Porcelain Black, who is kinda unknown and has only a little buzz has a song with him on her next album.

So I don't really know neither.

He turned down a $6M show in New Zealand, actually. I do agree that he wouldn't take money into consideration when choosing who to work with. He has said himself that he has made beats for Jay-Z for free. I just get the feeling he wants to be popular. He'd rather collab with THREE Young Money artists on 4 separate tracks than work with underground artists or old school greats.

I have a feeling it's to avoid oversaturation.

Yeah it's obviously not money.

But I do think he does now care about approval.

When he got that mixed reception with Relapse, I think it hurt his self-esteem, and originally he thought he could take it, as he probably just expected it to be praised.

So I don't think he aimed for Recovery to be popular for money, but I do think he now wants approval for his ideas and work and on a major-scale. I don't think he cares about popularity for the sake of hits or awards, I think he just wants to keep making cultural dents...

How many Detroit rappers does Eminem support that isn't on his record label? I may be mistaken but he doesn't seem to support the Detroit rap scene. Maybe he doesn't feel supported by them or there's some politics behind the scene that's turning him off but if the Dilla project is being spearheaded by his mother I don't see what the problem would be.
