The fuck is J. Dilla? :confusion:
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

They were both from Detroit. How do we know that they were EVER cool?
I haven't heard of an Em/J.Dilla collab, before so I don't know if it should happen now.
And @Almostlity
Dre inspired J. Dilla and Dre>>>Dilla
People quickly forget what Dre has done to this genre :facepalm

As he had an album in 2009, 2010 and the Bad Meets Evil EP in 2011.

And then a ton of features, especially considering what he would usually do...

Maybe he's working on the D12 album or new solo material and wants to create a silence / wait.

Or maybe he just didn't like the idea.

I also fear his integrity has waned though. As, he seems to immediately say yes to anybody now as long as they're big enough in the mainstream. And no to anybody who's too small on the radar.

yea, Em is a weirdo. Maybe it was the beat or something with the production. I'm sure its a valid reason, though...

WTF it's not there. O_O He's just talking about how J Dilla showed people how to make a career in music or something.

Also, did Em and Dilla even like each other? I mean, they were from the same city, maybe they had beef or something.

Em doesn't support the Detroit rap seen, are you mad?

Signed D12 to his label <======== all the 5 members excluding Marshall are from Detroit as well
Signed Obie Trice in '02 to his label <----------- from Detroit
Worked with Trick Trick who's from Detroit
Worked with Hush who's a friend..........from Detroit

I'll agree maybe he doesn't do a lot a lot, but he does it. And I'm not sure about the Dilla thing, but he's never seemed to do shit like that, idk why.

Let's face it, Dilla's dead and it would never be a real "collab" anyway as he is basically just gonna spit over a what is most likely a scrapped beat of his. I've heard him freestyle over a Premier beat but that was hardly a collab either.

If it wasn't for that horrible 2pac release years ago, I would say it's out of respect that he has refused to work with someone who isn't there to approve the product.

I totally agree with this, except that I enjoyed Loyal To The Game, even though Em had Pac say G-Unit (which was fucked up) & put Jada on the N1ggas track even though he killed it.

EminemBase wrote:Em turned down $6 for one show in Australia.

He also turned down $15 for a movie with 50 Cent.

And he also resisted all commercial offers and licensing for basically a decade.

I think it's pretty obvious he doesn't do things for money.

And he's shockingly rich, I honestly don't think he would give a shit.

A few points...

Touring/shows, commercials & movies etc... is Em's business, not Interscope's. For example, if Em were to make a movie for $15m or "one show in Australia" for $6m, Interscope wouldn't profit - in direct economic terms. Indirectly, of course, record sales - "in the area" - are likely to increase when artists tour.

* Also, Em's management know's what they're doing. Thinking long-term has been a winning concept. Sure, Em could probably make 5 movies a year and a couple of commercials, and make HUGE money, but... Em is not an actor per-sé, and these movies would lack quality, and when you're overexposed (commercials etc.) your market-value drops. Em would lose artistic respect, and fans. This could work though... in short-term. *

Whilst when it comes to music/recordings, Em has obligations to his label. Of course, neither of us here, knows exactly what these [obligations] are. But one thing is for sure, labels want to maximize profit. I'm also quite sure that Interscope has its "standards" (and with Em, these "standards" are high), there is a certain amount of money you'll need to pay for an Em feature, certain percentages of the profits from the album will be going to Interscope/Em. Why do you guys think Em wasn't featured on Young Jeezy's album?

You must also remember that to Interscope, "Eminem" - as a money making machine - is a long-term project. Having too many features - in a short period of time - can lead to over-exposure, and a dropping demand. Em during this past decade has been this sort of mystical figure, not the dude you'll see on every event etc.., but when he does appear, there are often big headlines & a lot of buzz.

Oh, and "he's shockingly rich, I honestly don't think he would give a shit.". If Em really wasn't caring at all for money, he wouldn't require such monstrous amounts for the shows he's been doing lately in Australia/Canada/US/Europe...

Don’t forget, the music industry is a business.
