Bad Meets Evil is a pretty aweful Album

Postby Aftermathers » Jan 31st, '12, 01:37

It's 1 of the worst Produced Albums in a very long time. I think Mr Porter can be a decent Producer but on this Album the Beats he done were weak they were to bland he Produced majority of the EP.

Now y'all see why Eminem did majority of Production on both D12 Album's Devil's Night and D12 World while Mr Porter just did a few Songs on both Albums.

Aside from the weak Production the Content was just terrible the Album had zero Substance/Lyrical Content/Emotion, no message, no relatable Lyrics and the featured Singers for Hooks like Bruno Mars were pretty poor too. Eminem is 1 of the best Hook Makers in history as far as catchy/emotional Hooks so it was puzzling why he didn't Sing most the Hooks on there however since it was an EP with no Content/Substance it makes sense since his Singing wouldn't fit the Shock/Gimmicky Lyrics.

Okay, well that's your opinion and I don't agree with it. I'm sure many people on here agree that it wasn't awful at all. I personally find it enjoyable, I don't have to relate to EVERYTHING I listen to. I like actually just listening to stories every once and a while and it's nice to hear Em having fun with an old friend again.

Yeah it really comes down taste but i just can't get into that Shock Value Content it just is like they both were Rapping with out saying anything at all but just Rapping random words about crazy shit. It just lacks replay value to me.

You know, when you spell awful like that, you're saying it fills you with awe, so it's really closer to awesome...in which case I agree with you. :p

lol.

so you can relate to Watch The Throne? You can relate to Kanye when he fucking says "And I'm from the murder capital where they murder from capitals".

Get the fuck out, son. The album had some "this-shit-is-from-a-whole-nother-world" rhyming, and you're dissing it because it doesn't have any "relatable lyrics". Thanks for the laugh.

Never said i could relate to Watch The Throne

But Shock Value Lyrics about serial killing, rape, hell, cartoonish violance, mother hatered, puking etc is the least form of relatable Music it's not just the fact it's not relatable it's just the fact i think that kinda Shock Value is just weak and not good in any shape or form. Shock Value/Gimmicky Cartoonish Lyrics is just not my thing.

It's also not about just relatable Lyrics but Lyrics with Substance, Emotion, Meaning etc you don't have to relate always but as long as the Lyrics are Deep is the most important factor in Hip Hop Music IMO. Actual Lyrical Content and what is being Rapped is the most important factor.

So do you think the rest of Em's non-serious music is awful and weak, too? Because you just described a LOT of Em's stuff.

Well since majority of Em's Music is Deep/Heart Felt and full of Substance about life experiences, pain, struggles and everyday issues with a lotta Emotion i enjoy majority of his Music @ Amaranthine where as The Slim Shady stuff which is in the minority i'm not keen on i just never could get with that Shock Value stuff.

I became a fan of Eminem from the Slim Shady LP the Songs If I Had and Rock Bottom made me a fan of him then after that with The Marshall Mathers LP i loved Songs like The Way I Am, Stan etc but finally got an Album i wanted from him with Songs like that which are Deep from start to finish on an Album and Music at it's finest IMO with The Eminem Show my fave Album of his. Then after that came Songs on the 8 Mile Soundtrack that i loved Lose Yourself, 8 Mile Road, Rabbit Run etc. Then on Encore he had the Deep Songs like Mockingbird, We As Americans, Like Toy Soldiers etc that i loved.

But as i said Rock Bottom and If I Had from his first Album the only Eminem/Deep Songs on that Album made me a fan of his.

When I'm in the mood to hear modern emcees rip the beat apart, I spin H:TS.

It all really comes down to taste for me Content, Substance, Emotion, Message, is the most important factor in Lyrics what is being Written and Rapped is the most important factor to me.

But some do like the silly shock value stuff saying nothing at all and just Rapping random words for the sake of it but to me that sounds awful.

^ That's literally ALL it was meant to be and people treat it like Em was supposed to be rapping about Hailie and how bad his life is under a group called "Bad Meets Evil" lmao. What did people honestly expect? Too much and that's why those people are disappointed. Enjoy it for what it is and not what you want it to be. Or choose not to enjoy it, that's cool too.

Edit: That ^ was to Menzo lol

I actually agree with this, the EP was really not that good, probably with the exception of "The Reunion" and "Take From Me", everything was just random rapping with not sense and no deepness. But given the fact that this album was made just for the fun of it and just to rap on beats then I guess its alright, as long as they flow nice and have cool writing structures n shit, then its fun to listen to.

my personal favourite from that ep was "a Kiss", dunno why, I just like that song.

I still think a song could be good even if it lacks content. Just not as good as song with content provided it's as good musically.

@ Aftermathers I think the production is good on a lot of songs off the EP, just not your taste. I think you guys already established that though. :sweating:

I do agree with your statement that a Song can be good with out Substance/Content Business is an example of that a classic Song with no real Substance.

Op hurts my eyes. What a way to type.
I loved the EP, appart from "Lighters". It`s not a bad song, but I don`t think that a song like that featuring Bruno Mars should be on something called Bad Meets Evil. I would like if Eminem did more projects like that, release some more mixtapes.
