People tend to overlook all those tracks, and focus mainly on the more popular tracks, which is why I believe Recovery is hated on so much. The more popular tracks are the more radio-friendly tracks. Half the album (and I'm gonna count the iTunes tracks in this "half") are nowhere NEAR radio friendly.

See all that is irrelevant to me wether Not Afraid is radio friendley or not i could care less it had amazing Lyrics, amazing message, powerful Emotion, 1 of the best Hooks ever, a bangin beat, nice Flow and it moves you, so what more can you ask for?

Again Slim Shady Persona fans aren't looking for this though

3rd verse ftmfw

I’m strangling you we fight for nothing
My signatures look are your marks look at you all big with your remarks
As I swing an ice pick at your heart
At least that’s what it feels like when I pick you apart
And dig at ya and break ya down like the bitch that you are
The predicament starts when I throw a brick at your car
The pain inflicted upon you is so sick as Bizarre
Shit this is almost ridiculous gape that is far
As having me want to rip out your fricken ligaments AHHH
You hit like a bitch you scratch me with your nails
For that you catch an open hand slap like a female
Like bap in fact I’ll have the crowd smacking you themselves
Where’s D12 I don’t feel like doing this myself

Menzo wrote:^ But Slaughterhouse HAS songs with emotion, in fact, all the ones with emotion are pretty flawless. Their album was made in 6 days, so it's hardly a fair assessment of their potential.

I suggest giving them a shot on the new album.

"Ridaz" and "Session One" are amazing.

I listened to their Album and lotta other non Album Songs i just think their Music sucks and can't enjoy it at all. Rapping words like you reading a dictionary, over a boring simple Beat, Rapping random words just to make them rhyme with no Hook ability, no Emotion and i don't feel the Emotion in Slaughterhouse Songs is like watching paint dry to me just not my thing at all.

But i can listen to Eminem, 2pac, T.I., Max B, Styles P, ZRO, Dipset just to name a few and genuinley enjoy their Music.

Ridaz was amazing to you but Not Afraid, Going Through Changes, Cinderella Man, So Bad, Seduction etc were amazing to me.

Not Afraid and Going Through Changes were the only songs remotely alike...the other songs are not serious tracks.

You need to listen to the Album every Song aside from a few had a Message, Substance about personal struggles.

Apparently Not Afraid had a lot of Em's worst punchlines.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin

People blow the punchlines way out of proportion, honestly. Some are stupid, but it's not like the guy made Encore II.

TES is my favorite Eminem album though...it's not TOO serious, it's mixed with funny songs and classic serious songs so that's why it would be my favorite. I also like Recovery for the same reason...it has a very healthy mix of serious and "funny" or non-serious tracks. It's kinda weird, I'm bipolar about Em music sometimes lol.

The Eminem Show only had 2 funny/shock/Slim Shady Alias Songs on it Without Me and My Dads Gone Crazy every other Song on there was Deep/Emotional/Personal. Every Song on Recovery aside from WTP was Deep/Introspective.

E

The Eminem Show also had Drips and Superman, Recovery had Cold Wind Blows, On Fire (which is the most "Shady" song since his return) and So bad.

This whole concept of "Marshall fans" verse "Shady fans" is ridiculous. How is it hard to see that the overwhelming majority of fans can and do enjoy songs like "Sing For The Moment" AND "Criminal".

There is no great divide like you claim.

I'ma call bullshit twice.

Your first point, you're forgetting "Drips".

Your second point, are you forgetting "Cold Wind Blows", "On Fire", "Won't Back Down", "Untitled", "Session One", "Almost Famous" (a case can be made either way for AF, but I'd say it's not in the 'deep/introspective' category) and "So Bad"?

Superman is a Concept and Emotional Song about the troubles he has in relationships, Drip's is a Concept Song with a message about the dangers of H.I.V. Both Songs having Substance.

Cold Wind Blows, On Fire, Won't Back Down etc are not Slim Shady Shock Value Songs.

I've listened to the album A LOT lol. I love Recovery. Half of it is serious/deep, half of it isn't...not every song talks about his struggles. Seduction talks about him seducing hip hop personified as a girl, not a deep song at all for example. So Bad isn't deep, Untitled isn't deep, Almost Famous isn't deep although it does have some of his struggles in it...a good amount of tracks on Recovery aren't deep or personal songs. And tbh I like it better that way, I don't want every single song to be serious or personal...sometimes I just wanna hear good rapping and not worry about content like what was on BME.

I also retract my claim about Cinderella Man earlier...it isn't a serious or deep song, but it IS a somewhat personal song. It's DEFINITELY about his struggles.

Also Menzo put it perfectly about Superman...that song isn't emotional lol. Drips definitely isn't emotional too, I don't know where you got that idea...

Because Eminem made it his business to explicitly insult those kinds of artists to separate himself from them, to stop himself being lumped in and compared with them.

So from the outside it looks like hypocrisy. But, in my mind he hasn't really done an unjustified collaboration yet, other than maybe Pink, which was also wasted.

But the Rihanna collab was artistically brilliant. To put her, the victim of the most public domestic abuse case in recent times, on the hook of THAT track, to create that paradox. It's very similar to when he performed with Elton in front of GLAAD protesters.

That is what most people miss about the track, and it's actually a very good sign as to how he's thinking, artistically. As he's thinking bigger, and trying to push buttons again, in a meaningful way.

"Love the Way You Lie" is ENHANCED by Rihanna, it is what it is because of Rihanna. A lot of people say they wished Sasha Grey had sung on it but that would make the track much less interesting. Then it would be a, still very well written, but normal song about domestic violence. Rihanna singing the hook elevates it, creates a paradox and makes it something special.
