True, but they go too far. Way more than Pepe.

Messi's freekick was insane. One of the best goals I've seen in a long time. Did the ref give Messi permission to take the freekick quickly? If so, I don't know why people are complaining. You could argue that it shows a lack of sportsmanship from Messi, but you cannot take anything away from the quality of that strike.

To be fair, even if Courtois was ready, I doubt he'd be saving that.

Yeah, he would've scored anyway lol. He didn't need permission if he never asked for a wall, which is most likely the case.

Still a quality strike tbh. Doubt Courtois would have saved that even if he was ready.

He would. I would save that. He did hit the top corner, but it took forever for the ball to get there. The keeper would be standng in that side of the goal because he was setting the wall in the first corner.

Funny how RM fans always have to complain. At every motherfucking Barca-match.

Freekick on the opponent's half is the same as in the teams own half, it is allowed to take it when you want to as long as the ref asks you to wait. The referee blows his whistle only if he first asked you to wait, or if you spend much time on taking it.

And LMAO at @Innovation, that must also mean that Rooney's goal was one of the best as well, ha?

It's clear that he looked at the GK and noticed that he's still not ready. You know what? I'm done arguing, this is preposterous.

What is that pic proving? Its up to Messi whether to ask for a wall or not, not the ref, and he can take the freekick whenever he wants, he doesn't have to wait for the gk to get ready. :facepalm

Are you serious? The one who takes the freekick should decide if there's gonna be a wall or not? Fuck logic, I guess, huh?

He HAS to wait for a permission from the referee, in this case the ref gave him permission to take it without Messi having to wait for his signal (the whistle). Same thing happened to Chelsea in 04/05 when Henry scored without waiting for the whistle.

Yes I am. I'm not saying he decides if there's gonna be a wall lol, the atacking side decides if they wanna wait for the wall to form, because otherwise the defenders don't need to respect any distance. Just like a freekick in any other part of the field.

No, pay attention the next game you watch, whenever there's a freeckick near the box the referee asks the player if he wants to wait for the whistle, and only in that case its necessary for the referee to give the player permission.

They have to wait for the referee, the wall is irrelevant. However, the referee usually waits for the wall to form before allowing the attacking team to take the freekick.

"Opponents must be 10 yards (9.15m) away from the ball when a direct free kick is taken. By taking a quick direct free kick, the team have attempted to gain an advantage over their opponents. If an attacking team does take a quick free kick before the referee have asked the players if they want to wait for a signal from the referee, and a goal is scored - then so long as no infringement has occurred during the taking of the free kick, the goal must be allowed"

I guess I misunderstood you, sorry.

I've always thought that permission and signal (whistle) are two different things, kinda confused at the moment, lol.
