Looks like Arsenal have signed Podolski from Köln for £10.9m. That's a good buy tbh. I read that Podolski has scored more goals for Köln than the rest of the team put together lmao. He'll probably bang in more goals than Nando at 1/5th of his transfer price and probably almost half of his wages (I assume Torres is on like 175k a week).

Manchester United lost to Athletic Bilbao?

And "I" thought Spain only had two teams that were good enough ;)

umm... if i'm not mistaken Bilabao drew with Barca this season...?

anyway, its something we can recover from. havent posted in this thread... Honestly, i now just accept that less than half of our squad is comparable to other top 5 league teams (Think PSV, Napoli, Dortmond etc) but we still grind out results and if that is the Manchester way... i'll accept it and celebrate whatever success. Its a far cry from the opening scintillating form but its where we at *sigh

I agree that Spain does have some very capable teams, but they are still far behind Real and Barca. For example, you have Atletico Madrid, Valencia and even Bilbao. There are all solid teams, but are they currently good enough to break into the top 2? Nope. That's where the criticism comes from. It's not that the Spanish league only has two strong teams, but the top 2 are so much further ahead in terms of quality it's always a two horse race.

Comparing it to the PL, it's much less competitive.

01 Cech
02 Ivanovic
03 Cole
24 Cahill
26 Terry
07 Ramires
08 Lampard
12 Mikel
16 Meireles
11 Drogba
21 Kalou

Hmm.. what a weird selection.

I also caught Bolton's winning goal against QPR. QPR are now only avoiding relegation due to goal difference. ;)

Apart from a few chances, we've been playing way below par. Kalou, Mikel..?

Now Fuller (the twat) has been sent off, we have to take the game to Stoke. Bring on Sturridge and Torres for a bit of pace upfront. Stoke are a physical team, they will find it much harder with a bit of pace on the field.

We got the job done and right now, that's all I care about. I don't think we will beat Napoli playing like that though.

Garry Birtles done my head in. He was critical about everything, I've never heard a commentator spew so much crap.

Fox soccer?

I lol'd at how much he was going on about how any contact in the area before a corner should just be a penalty!! WTF!? That would just mean no defender would go near anyone in the box at a corner and the strikers would dive more to win the pens.

Yeah on Fox Soccer.

I thought that suggestion was a bit odd too. He's right that the pushing is annoying, but his solution was stupid. Not to mention how he banged on about Ivanovic's crossing. Done my head in.
