Yeah, or SSLP. MMLP gets no love

Still, when people think of Eminem they think of now, 8 Mile / TES or SSLP. They never think of the MMLP style Em.

Sorry, where is the proof of this? I will always hold MMLP above TES. Most people that I ask about Eminem always refer back to MMLP as his best release yet. It's a timeless album. Stan is almost unassailable. Even people that hate rap recognise the artistic brilliance of that track.
The only reason to suggest that TES gains more recognition is the fact that MMLP is a hard album to get into if you don't know a lot about Em. The tracks have a lot more subliminal messages then TES which, incidentally, has easy meanings to be interpreted form each track at face-value. I'm not suggesting there is nothing conceptual behind TES, but clearly as has been suggested the tracks viewed as 'classics' are easy for your average person to enjoy.

One of my favorite albums ever, but possibly largely due to nostalgia. But it's a great record. And from what I can tell, by observing teenagers on the internet (okay, that sounded creepy.... you know, people like my cousins on facebook, haha), Em's legacy is being passed on to the next generation of high schoolers, which is mad cool. Young people even now, listen to 'old Eminem' and love it, just like my friends and I did, back in the day. It's kind of like "old Eminem" (other people's term... but it makes sense) is kind of like what Radiohead was when I was in hs. When I have kids, I'm going to bump that shit all over the place like my parents bumped Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, and shoved it down my throat (it worked). Hopefully the Stan-love will rub off on them.

Haha, isn't it funny to think that one day, not to far in the future, Eminem will be "old people music"?? Like the Doors, or the Rolling Stones... lol

except for the fact when Rolling Stones came out I doubt it old people would of disliked them the same way old people dislike eminem. I cant really see eminem ever being called 'old people' music.

Alright, well, I suppose what I MEANT was that, one day, we'll be old, and it'll be our music. Sooner or later, Eminem is going to be "music people's parents listen to"... unless we quit listening. It won't be "old people music" the way that Mozart, or Frank Sinatra is, I suppose, but, it'll be music from a few generations back.

And... it's not old people music, because people who listened to them still aren't... old. But they're getting there. Not saying anyone will ever necessarily call it that, per se, but it almost seems to me like old school hip hop is starting to become what jazz used to be-- like the "stuff white people like" guy said, "black people music that black people don't listen to anymore." I see hip hop starting to gain more sort of... hipster following, like being taken seriously on NPR and whatnot. i don't know, I see it. But I could be wrong or just making things up, who knows.

But anyway, don't take my opinions on this seriously if you think they don't make sense, honestly. They're far from fully formed.

Given that, last week, a lot of albums saw increase in sales & that TES is just below Tha Carter IV, I'm guessing it'll end up selling between 3,300 to 3,800 copies.

And it should definitely chart on the Billboard 200, probably higher than The MMLP.

I think Eminem has become more popular after doing more songs with other stars such as Rihanna in "Love the Way You Lie". I think this has attracted a more broad audience who have perhaps not listened to Eminem's earlier albums.
