I really want to see Piazon play against Leicester on Sunday. Maybe even Lukaku start up front? Highly doubt either of them will start though.

Wasn't sure if this was mainly a Premier League thread at first, but it doesn't seem to be...

I can't claim to be a FC Basel fan, but it would be really cool if they kicked Bayern München out of the Champions League tonight :) It's so rare to see an internationally successful Swiss team...

FCB vs FCB - I'm waiting :)

Nope, it's for football in general. The Premier League is just the most discussed. :y:

Thanks for the information :flower: .
Somehow, it doesn't surprise me. Apart from having very devoted fans (and general enthusiasm for the sport in the populace), the Premier League is the most interesting football league in Europe (if not the world. But I don't know enough about the South American football leagues to judge those).
Well, there is Germany, but I don't follow those teams at all.

Ouch :(
You know what the saddest part is? It's the best football team we have in the Super League (= Swiss Premier League, but the quality of the teams is neither "super" nor is it comparable to the best leagues in Italy, France, Germany, England... Feel free to add other countries...).
In the Super League, FC Basel has been undefeated since August.

Dont make it be a judgement on the state of your league man... its one game against an AWESOME Bayern side who have the CL Final at home. Even we suffered a humiliation earlier in the season...

Great run for Basel :y: Just read a soccernet article on the young players and them being the future of the Swiss team. Could set you guys up well for Brazil 2014

To be fair, the English clubs don't have too much to boast about in this year's CL. It's certainly a far cry from when we had three teams in the semi's.

What Basel achieved this year has been very impressive. Certainly better than any English club in this year's competition. Granted Basel got completely demolished, but it shouldn't take anything away from the run up to that game.

Yes, it was impressive and I'm not trying to take away any of their successes. They kicked out ManU after all! However, yesterday's game showed quite plainly what happens when the best teams truly are at their best... Swiss teams get murdered. From what I hear - and that's only an "hear-say" because I was having nightshifts at the time and couldn't watch the games - ManU wasn't exactly at its best when they played against Basel.
Anyway, :flowers: and :b: to Basel for what they've achieved and :console: for yesterday's disaster.

:worship: That's awesome. Have you ever watched him play? He's such a gifted player.

You don't even need to like the sport to appreciate this:

10am here and I'm quietly optimistic. Getting the 2 goals we need is certainly achievable, but I don't think we can keep a clean sheet against Napoli.

I hope the back line is Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry - Cole.
